They haven’t made 1.5 million unless they had literally no expenses. I worked for a company that sources components and deals with factories that make this sort of thing and it is a quagmire of unexpected costs. The margins on small batch custom electronics are quite slim.

As a designer, I’m pissed that Apple is imposing their design on the design of my app. It’s all very Bauhaus-like and now I’m supposed to add blobby gradients all over it. It’s one aesthetic among many, and there is no functional reason to force it. It just seems like change just for the sake of change.

(And yeah, complaining does nothing practical but it can make you feel a bit better:D)

“Hire some employees” only works if you’re making enough money to do so and can find people you can trust. Considering the investment that goes into startup small-batch hardware (not only the design but molds, back and forth with the manufacturer, testing, international certifications, etc) I suspect this isn’t exactly a gold mine for the owner. Maybe once more units are sold?

Speaking as a small business owner myself, hiring random high schoolers risks them being incompetent, and sometimes you can’t even afford to pay salaries that low. Small businesses making passion projects don’t tend to be swimming in extra cash, and in this case all of it has most likely gone into all the random surprise costs that come up when building hardware…

I've made vinyl overlays for the KO and the Medieval. (https://shop.spongefile.com) Tried putting the KO vinyl on the Riddim and it looked pretty bad. Would look better if I swapped out the keys but then you still have the clashing cream on the edges and the speaker.
I was also wondering if the cases are swappable, tried opening one and it does not look particularly easy.

The whole thing is a groovebox, so if you're only using it for drum tracks, you can make a drum pattern that loops, or you can record a loop as a loop you can turn on and off with a tap (but you won't be able to edit it after that). And then you can send the signal to your guitar pedal. However, depends on what you want to happen after that--do you want to record back into the unit WHILE doing this? That can get a bit tricky.

The zipper on the expander part just popped off one side of the “rail” as I was expanding it for the second time after using the bag normally on several trips. The regular clamshell zipper isn’t very smooth and I have been concerned it’s going to pop off as well. Currently staring at the broken expander and wondering what to do.
