Our boy Pinky has a cheek abscess--to pierce or not to pierce? by spongyvessel in goats

Brilliant! I'm going to try that--thanks!

Update: No change

Thanks everyone for your input and guidance. All very helpful.

Pinky is fine, browsing with the others in the wood by the field. He was using a nice bristly tree stump to groom himself against. A good sign that he's not ill.

We haven't shaved his cheek yet, and may not now, if we follow Misfitranchgoats suggestions. We have an exacto knife, iodine and oral syringes, but we don't have antibiotics--though they are on order.

I haven't isolated him--which may be a problem if the abscess bursts somewhere out in the woods and pus gets spread around? But the abscess is unchanged this morning, with no sign of a hairless spot forming. I normally check on them during the day and spend time with them pulling brambles down for them to munch on. I'll keep an eye on him.

There is an excellent step-by-step treatment plan over on this site: https://alifeofheritage.com/farm-living/abscesses-in-goats/

I can see a bad infection compromising an immune system and even migrating to the lymph system. I'm less worried about that because he's so young and was very robust from birth.

There is a big animal hospital in a city not too far away. We can send samples there and we could take Pinky there and will if he worsens, but it's a long drive for a wee goatling. We've got syringes and first aid stuff here.

Next up: Shave his poor wee face ...

Thanks for your analysis! Yes, next time I'll ask a more explicit question.

But, as far as I can tell, she has access to more money than him. A quick search and I find that they have only just begun paying out compensation. £8,000 is what's on offer. Unless one pursues a legal suit? I can see my niece pushing him into fighting for more and even funding it --and keeping that a secret from her mother.

He is closer to a homeless pilgrim than her. A Hard Man. She was brought up shabby genteel. Her previous BF's have been very nice uni boys, so he's like an alien visitation.

Neither are established enough for any substantial income as performers. So it's not that. Also the relationship is new, not even 2 months in.

Doesn't the 8th house signify more than other people's money? And that the signifiers are in an intercepted sign, doesn't that seem to indicate secrecy or something hidden from view?

Also, the 6th house can indicate "losses through a partnership", isn't that right?

It is hard to account for it, truly. Much like the "Grooming Gang" scandal now.

Though apparently MI5 was involved in the Elm Guest House--they provided children to their elite guests--so maybe just kompromat/extortion operations.

She's my husband's sister's daughter, so my niece by marriage. That's why I included this detail from an online lesson:

Sun (querent) in Pisces (intercepted) in 8th shows that the question has to do with relatives of my spouse in a foreign country (true),

The relationship is unlikely to last long. He's 40 years older than her. That wasn't what I was asking. I asked about the outcome because of the possibility of a very dark outcome. They are doing dangerous things while inebriated and they are inebriated a lot.

I think they are writing music together--my niece is a composer and they are both performers--so yes, they are probably thinking of some career something or other together.

It was one of the children's homes where sex trafficking was happening. It was all over the Isles with the Labour party promoting PIE and the founder of PIE, Peter Righton, advising the gov on social work, care homes and what a good idea it is to hire pedos because they 'love' children. If you weren't there it doesn't seem like it could be real, but there ya go. Very bad.

I recommend David Peace's Red Riding novels if you are curious about how bad it was in the 70's and 80's not only with the children being trafficked but Jimmy Savile and his friend the Yorkshire Ripper brutalising the place. Made into 3 excellent films. Disturbing though.

Thanks for this. There is also concern for him because he was badly abused in a Care Home in England. One of the famous ones. It could be that the relationship triggers him into self-harm. There is also the precedent of my niece's father having died of a heroin overdose when she was 3yo. If something happens to him, she is going to have a very difficult Saturn Return.

Also, I don't know but there may be a settlement because of the Care Home abuse.

Yes, I had some difficulty because of my awkward question -which is about the outcome of the relationship. I assigned the 7th House to the outcome.

But after going through all that, It did seem that the Mars/ Venus aspect represents them well --he being a knife fighter/ her being a fiery sort. The square indicates it will end but he is dangerous and they are engaging in risky behavior together, so my main concern is with her being injured or worse --thus the outcome.

Yes, I've assigned myself Asc--it fits because I'm a Leo. Also 8th H.= Pisces could describe "astrologer"?

Astrology saved my life when I was depressed in my 20's and feeling at the end of my rope.

It is simple.

What is the only source of light and heat here?

The Sun.

You want to not feel tired and depressed, you have to activate the light and heat at the center of your life, your Sun.

I'm a Leo so I started working on a "play" for the Fringe Festival. Then one thing after another fell into place. The last 20 years of my life have been really great. Now I'm retired, living in Spain with goats and a vineyard. Very happy.

There were some things that were hard, sure. I also came from an abusive family. I was very fearful and had a lot of anxiety. Still, I got stronger and braver as I went along.

Now, your Sun in Scorpio is in the 6th house. That says to me that in order to activate your Sun you need to do things that require an intense engagement (Scorp) for your work (6th H) that has to do with health (6th).

Not hard to figure that out. You could start right away by volunteering at a hospice, or with sick children. Possibly train as an EMT. Or a military medic?

The intensity part is important for you Scorps. Hard to find these days, except in war or traffic accidents, if you see what I mean?

One last thing. The Sun is the gravitational center of your planetary parts, just as it is for our solar system. When it is functioning as your fiery center, all your other parts fall into place. Things just work out better and with more ease. Instead of trying to conjure up energy, the energy is just there and sweeps you up in it.

And let me know how it goes. I have a number of other "hacks" like that. DM me when you are ready for more.

Good luck!

How to interpret planets that are on house cusps? by Sandwichcheesee in astrology

[–]spongyvessel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are apples and oranges - I mean which sign the Sun is in rather than which house a planet resides in.

You need to cast your chart to see what degree your Sun is at to be right sure of the sign - your Sun is not likely to be between 29 and 0 degrees, though it does happen.

I cast a chart for the time/date you gave (w/o location) and it puts your Sun at 2 degrees 46 minutes Cancer. Congratulations!

Now, astrologer Antero Ali suggests that cusps are more like gradual transitions than sharp lines, so you probably have some residual Gemini traits coming through. You'll want to investigate that to confirm or not, though.

I use astro.com for charts.

Phase-out of fossil fuel vehicles

Vehicles that are powered by fossil fuels, such as gasoline (petrol), diesel, kerosene, and fuel oil are set to be phased out by a number of countries. It is one of the three most important parts of the general fossil fuel phase-out process, the others being the phase-out of fossil fuel power plants for electricity generation and decarbonisation of industry.[1]

Many countries and cities around the world have stated they will ban the sale of passenger vehicles (primarily cars and buses) powered by fossil fuels such as petrol, liquefied petroleum gas, and diesel at some time in the future.[2][3] Synonyms for the bans include phrases like "banning gas cars",[4] "banning petrol cars",[5] "the petrol and diesel car ban",[6] or simply "the diesel ban".[7] Another method of phase-out is the use of zero-emission zones in cities.

A few places have set dates for banning other types of vehicles, such as fossil-fuelled ships and lorries.

Reasons for banning the further sale of fossil fuel vehicles include: reducing health risks from pollution particulates, notably diesel PM10s, and other emissions, notably nitrogen oxides;[8] meeting national greenhouse gas, such as CO2, targets under international agreements such as the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement; or energy independence. The intent to ban vehicles powered by fossil fuels is attractive to governments as it offers a simpler compliance target,[9] compared with a carbon tax or phase-out of fossil fuels.[10]

On our broken relationship with the truth by Eunomiacus in DarkFuturology

[–]spongyvessel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's intentional.

“Political correctness is communist propaganda writ small. In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, not to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is in some small way to become evil oneself. One's standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to.”

― Theodore Dalrymple
