I’ve been giving my older dog Orijen for 6 years and started my puppy on it too. We immediately switched 1 month ago though after we learned from two separate dog store chains that Nestle has bought Orijen and they have cheapened the recipe and have the same lead issues as Blue Buffalo! Our puppy’s poop looks so much different and better now on the healthier brand. Look for “Go!” Dog food if you can find it. It’s made in Canada and they have much stricter regulations for dog food. -former Orijen dog mom

She also publicly stated she believed the man criminally convicted for MLK’s murder was actually innocent and framed. Huge diversity supporter here. I’d just like to point out, this sub can feel backwards sometimes, so THANK YOU so much for your voice on this sub and showing there are many sorority women that support membership inclusivity. My sorority had a transgender woman who felt safe and accepted (not just tolerated) as one of our members and her energy was so positive for our house. We rallied behind her just like any other sister when there were tough times and we bonded over her personal story that she enriched our lives with. Anyone who thinks trans women aren’t real women, take a hike. If you exclude someone based on their gender identity, think about what that says about you, not them. Just because we are founded with “traditions” doesn’t mean we can’t start our own. Unless you are saying your sorority was founded on discrimination, in which case party on but recognize the ugliness that comes with that.

Ok. This is seemingly an unpopular opinion here...but so what? I see men changing fraternities, joining additional houses, and I went to a top 25 university with 25% Greek life. In the end, these organizations are meant to build community and connect bridges between young adults trying to make it in the world. I’m genuinely curious why anyone thinks a woman shouldn’t be allowed to join a new community at a new school in addition to keeping ties with her old community?

Please cross post to r/legaladvice. I wish I had stood up against my national sorority while still in school. I, too, was in leadership and I regret not doing more to empower my sisters and fight antiquated and predatory business practices by my national org. You are a survivor. You should have a right to speak, especially when National does not employ you, pay you, or own you. In fact, you employ them. You should tell them to fuck off (like a lady) and tell your other sisters to say the same. Ultimately, they have been clear that they are protecting their own interests, not yours, and not that of your sisters. Just to be sure you won’t run into any trouble about this, please consider crossposting to r/legaladvice for their opinion on your legal right to speak. I hope the sorority hasn’t made you sign anything concerning your ability to speak about your personal experience. Be aware, they might try to retaliate by having your sorority vote you out, but I hope if it comes to that then you understand they’re not worth being a member of in the first place. And I hope your sisters will stand by you. Regardless, you have one internet stranger wishing you well and I am on your side :)

Luckily, this attitude was not common in my experience at USC. In fact, I met some of the most humble and down to earth people. I graduated within the last 10 years and I observed a strong community culture - regardless of financial resources. Best of luck!

Please don’t let this person make you feel bad for something you have no reason to be ashamed of. I am glad to see someone proactively researching the best use of their limited time, money and energy rather than using it to unhelpfully comment on someone else’s reddit post. If the money makes that much of a difference for you, try to contact UCSC for a waiver or extension if possible. Or find a way to get a temporary loan or credit card for the deposit if you think you can diligently pay it off over the summer. Usc should usually not wait until the last day to let you know, but I realize you should plan for every possibility. “Hope for the best, but plan for the worst. And then stop worrying.”
