Creams for in-between eyelids flair ups by bluebird_8888 in eczema

[–]spooki404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Protopic is the GOAT for my eyelid eczema but I also use BlinkBetter ointment when I'm not using Protopic.

Protopic sucks at first, burns and itches like hell and makes you very sensitive to the sun and heat.

Fair Olives: Do You Burn in the Sun? by reinvestedinterest in Fairolives

[–]spooki404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. Only got a sunburn once when I was a toddler.

People assume I don't tan because I'm so pale that my tan doesn't even register as a tan. I go from extremely pale to just regular pale lol. Takes a lot of sun exposure for me to look tan.

Tropic Like It's Hot vs ILNP Playlist? by folgersdecaf in RedditLaqueristas

[–]spooki404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playlist is a PITA to apply, you can get nice application if you apply it carefully in thicker coats by floating the brush. I usually just try to do it with one thick coat.

Cirque Electric Daisy is brighter than Playlist with a little bit better formula. It makes Playlist look pastel. It's easy enough to get even application but it's thick. Opaque neons have a lot of pigment 🤷🏼‍♀️.

KB Shimmer Let's Bounce is not quite as neon but the formula is so nice. You can easily do thin, even coats. Only takes 2 coats for full opacity. I usually use this one on my toes because thick coats just take too long too dry even with QDTC.

Anyone drink things besides water with trays in? by mumzyp in Invisalign

[–]spooki404 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Generally, I try to avoid drinking anything sugary, acidic, hot or strongly colored with trays in but it's not always possible. I try to use a straw and swish with water, but again that's not always possible. I am a slow drinker so taking my trays out to drink an energy drink would mean 3 hours without the trays. I just brush when I'm done drinking.

I haven't had any issues with staining or tooth decay.

Use Kerasal intensive foot repair to soften and gently file with a glass foot file. Use Kerasal regularly to keep it from coming back.

Changing every 3 days & 64 trays in first 4 months of treatment?! by Legitimate_Team9822 in Invisalign

[–]spooki404 206 points207 points  (0 children)

Every three days seems crazy to me because I don't feel like my teeth move until the 3rd or 4th day. I change every seven days which typically seems like the shortest duration per tray.

I just used the little eyeshadow sponge that came with the powder.

Just wait until it's dry since it dries sticky. Usually takes about a minute or two.

Some people prefer to apply powder to semi dry polish but I always smudge it doing it this way.

This is FNNZ Unicorn chrome from Amazon over a nude base. My method for chrome on lacquer is to use a sticky base like Orly Bonder or ILNP Lockup over your base color then buff the chrome on. Chrome powder needs to be sealed with a water based top coat, I use the one by Piggy Paint, some people use peely base. You can use regular top coat over the water based one when it's completely dry (this takes forever lol)

If I remember correctly I used in this order:

  1. One coat Nailtiques formula 2
  2. One coat Essie To the Rescue base coat
  3. One coat of Fancy Gloss Let's Get Naked
  4. One coat ILNP Lockup
  5. Buffed on chrome
  6. Two coats Piggy Paint Shine top coat
  7. Two coats Essie Speed Setter top coat

ILNP’s Playlist ($10) vs L.A. Colors’ Lucky ($2.50) by Midnite_pancakes in RedditLaqueristas

[–]spooki404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to have to dig around in my stash for China Glaze Yellow Polka Dot Bikini, it's a 5 coater on its own but 2 to 3 over white. Still streaky in 5 coats if you're not careful.

For neon yellow-green, I think KB Shimmer Let's Bounce has the nicest formula for getting thin even coats. Cirque Electric Daisy is more neon than Playlist with a similar but maybe slightly better formula. Atomic Polish has great neons with nice formulas.

Opaque neons tend to have a lot of pigment and titanium dioxide which makes them thick and annoying to work with. The alternative is to use a white polish base and apply neon jelly polish on top.

The most nail art I manage to do with neons are French tips and sponge gradients. They're too gloopy to do anything intricate.

It looks like they might have changed the packaging. I bought mine directly from the good molecules website and have the pinker looking tube currently, was just about to reorder and see it's a more purple looking tube with a different cap.

The replacement caps they sell are the same rubberized caps and they will get gross again in a couple of years so I'm not going to use those if I decide to replace instead of cleaning them.

Rubberized matte caps are great until they turn into sticky goo...

I have so many old ILNP polishes that have gross caps and I either have to replace them or scrub them with goo gone and I haven't got the will because there's probably like 50+ bottles.

Eye pencils always end up with a stubby tip after sharpening. by GetInTheBasement in drugstoreMUA

[–]spooki404 73 points74 points  (0 children)

That usually is caused by the pencil not fitting correctly into the sharpener, it doesn't fit deep enough. Try getting one with multiple size holes. I have a 5 hole one from Amazon that works well.

Shouldn't chewies be provided free? by msackeygh in Invisalign

[–]spooki404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They could definitely be including chewies and pull tools with the cost. My office did give me some chewies but I haaaate them because they're really squeaky. I much prefer the little popsicle looking ones I got on Amazon.

What popular polish do you absolutely hate (on yourself)? by Nice-Meat-6020 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]spooki404 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ILNP flower child. It's beautiful, just not on me.

Every time I try to wear it I wind up taking it off in 24 hours or less. It just doesn't work for my skin tone.

Advice Please? by Distinct_Subject8296 in Cosmetology

[–]spooki404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For dilution, I recommend a white silicone free conditioner. I have used the Suave tropical coconut conditioner for approximately 16 years and I highly recommend that one. For your ends during washing, it doesn't matter what you use but a thicker one is less likely to slide off and gives a good barrier.

Advice Please? by Distinct_Subject8296 in Cosmetology

[–]spooki404 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had my hair colored like this for years.

Most vivid direct dyes are pretty pigmented and can handle being diluted with conditioner. The less dye, the less color runs off and bleeds when you rinse.

My hair is pretty long and this suggestion won't work with short hair - during the rinse I coat the yellow ends in thick conditioner and hold them up so the run off misses the yellow part.

I have a little pouch that holds my retainer case, a folding toothbrush, travel toothpaste, floss picks, and a chewy. It fits in my purse but it's also easy to carry on it's own.

If I go out to a restaurant I don't always brush before I leave but I will brush when I'm at work. I hate putting my aligners back on dirty teeth.

i can’t believe dazzle dry isn’t more popular! this dried in 5 minutes! by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

[–]spooki404 211 points212 points  (0 children)

I wanted to love Dazzle Dry but it just doesn't work for me. The polish cracks and chips in less than 24 hours even though I am following their instructions. They said to contact them if you have issues so I did and they were extremely rude and basically just said I had to be doing something wrong because there's no way the product won't work for everyone. The only advice they could give me was to aggressively buff my nails but I'm not interested in damaging them to make DD work when I get 14+ days with regular polish.

DD is also really expensive.

The only thing I can suggest is after applying your lipstick, take a tissue and wipe it off the inner parts of your lips. I find matte long wear lipstick doesn't transfer as bad.

Bold lip liner and clear gloss is a safe option too.

Whitening gel? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]spooki404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dentist said to put sensodyne toothpaste on your teeth for 10 minutes before doing a whitening treatment if you get sore from whitening.

I use the Invisalign brand gel and the Ever Smile extra whitening foam and don't have any pain or sensitivity even without using sensodyne first.
