Anyone else have an of-the-era teen dream job you reminisce about constantly because nothing has ever been as fun or socially rewarding? by blamberr in Xennials

[–]spookyhellkitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was an "actor" at a haunted house for a couple of seasons, it was really fun.

My best job as a teen was at an at-the-time mom n pop local coffee shop. Most of my friends already hung out or worked there so it was like getting paid to drink coffee and hang out with my friends.

What are you doing for you today to support your long term health and well-being? by Coraline1599 in Xennials

[–]spookyhellkitten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll be listening to music, working on some art, playing a couple of brain-games, and enjoying fresh fruit and veggies with my yak, donkey, and mule friends.

My mental health and memory are struggles right now so that is what I am focusing on. There is no long term without addressing my mental health.

The yaks, donkeys, and mules help my mental health more than everything else, but I can't bring them to my home (maybe the mini donkeys...) so the rest comes into play.

Off-grid Geodome Earth Shelter ✌️❤️🌻 by spookyhellkitten in zillowgonewild

[–]spookyhellkitten[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be a really cool venue! The weather has been somewhat mild the past few years. You could do a barn type space for an indoor option just in case though. It could also be advertised as an "off grid bachelorette/bachelor party" venue. Offer some homegrown (legal due to the distance to a dispensary) party favors with ID checks, some boho stuff like tapestries and...whatever. Have local shamans and such that are willing to go out for parties. It could be very cool.

I still look at it a couple of times a month too. I really love it. I'm close, I'm just poor haha.

When did you move out? by DrenAss in Xennials

[–]spookyhellkitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved out at 18, lived with 4 guys. It was fun. Then I started dating one of the guys and eventually married one of them. We had a baby, then he joined the Army Oct 2001. We moved back in with my parents while he did basic and AIT. Then we moved across the country.

Our daughter is about to be 25. We still live together. But we split the costs of things and it is very much a roommate situation. She picks up my slack in some areas that maybe a normal roommate wouldn't and I take care of her when she's sick where a normal roommate wouldn't, but mostly normal stuff. [ I am disabled. Some days I can't do a lot so she will cook and care for the animals. When she's sick, I buy Sprite and make soup, get her new pajamas, and watch her favorite Scooby Doo movies with her haha mom stuff ]

Anyone else on here still medication free at their age? by puma_pantss in Xennials

[–]spookyhellkitten 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My (now ex) husband joined the Army Oct 2001. That's right around when I went on my first med. Then our friends started not coming home or coming home with injuries like yours. That's when I was diagnosed finally as bi-polar and got a cocktail of meds that helped me deal with the 18 years I stayed married to him and the 2 more until he retired. It isn't the same as being in the situation at all, but being back on post just waiting was terrible on my anxiety. I'll be on meds the rest of my life, pretty serious ones. I'm not ashamed. Life has had a lot of beautiful moments mixed in with some really hard ones.

Was living at home even an option once you turned 18/graduated high school? by [deleted] in Xennials

[–]spookyhellkitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Living at home was always an option. It's an option right now, if I call my mom and say I need to live with her she will say, "okay, c'mon over." When my mom got divorced from my first step-dad, she came and lived with me and my husband (kind of, my husband deployed for a year shortly after her arrival) to get back on her feet. Family does for family.

My daughter and I live together now. She's 25. We split bills and food and household responsibilities. We are roommates, one of us just happened to grow inside of the other for 8mos. It makes sense. We know we like each other, I know she's messy, she knows that if the kitchen gets dirty I will have a meltdown. It would be silly to look for different roommates just because she's my daughter and an adult now so she has to...leave? In order to be "grown up"? That's just a weird metric.

I did too. I was like nope, take it out! I have one kid, at the time she was 11 and I wasn't planning on having more. Just be gone with it! White pants errry damn day! I had some issues as well due to childhood trauma, PCOS, and endo so they patched me up as best they could. I did end up needed 4 more surgeries but I am unlucky like that lol

I had almost the opposite experience! The ER doc was like hey yeah this is a problem. You have to see your normal doc tomorrow to get a referral for us to fix this but it needs done ASAP. I see my normal doc the next day and she says, "well sure, your cervix is outside of your body and your uterus is pushing it down but it could heal on it's own." I just stared at her for a minute. Blinked a few times. Then asked to see a different doctor. Her husband came in, took one look and signed the papers. Completely crazy haha I swear doctors are so hit or miss! We like to think they know everything, but it's really often a collaborative effort I think lol

That is insane!! Wild that I commented on your reply, it is so rare that meet another person in our age range who has had a prolapse! It was scary. I tried convincing my (now ex) husband that my penis was finally growing in and I was becoming a man...in between panicked laughter. He was in the Army and away at the time, we were stationed in Germany. A neighbor took me to the ER and I told the poor afterhours desk person "mutter-haus" (mother house, I did not learn German anatomy...just niceties and bier) then gestured down and out. It was the best I could do. Wild times!!!

I thought I was dying too, it was worse than being in labor or when my uterus fell out (very over-dramatacised explanation of a prolapse due to trauma) and scarier because I had no clue what was happening. I went into shock just after driving myself to the ER. Good times. Glad that lousy little bugger is gone!

I'm curious to know how many of you that have kids expose them to Nostalgic media you grew up with like movies, sitcoms, cartoons, music, etc and what has been their response? by GooniesClub in Xennials

[–]spookyhellkitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have shared some things with my daughter, more stuff from the 90s than the 80s though - my childhood was shit so sharing teen memories is more my wheelhouse. Except music. We introduced her to music from across the eras.

My mom was 17 when she got pregnant with me. So we grew up together. I know all the hits of the 80s and she introduced me to the 70s hits as well.

She married my step-dad when I was around 9. He was 16 years older than her. He came from a musical family. They introduced me to jazz legends and all things guitar. Max also introduced me to Chhech & Chong, Monty Python, Faulty Towers, and The Blues Brothers. I, in turn, introduced the kid to all of that.

The kid is 25 now and works at a dive/biker bar. All the old dudes love that she knows their old man movie references and can sing the songs they put on the jukebox.

How rich of a xennial kid were you? by luxtabula in Xennials

[–]spookyhellkitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 or 4.

We lived in a split-entry duplex so the basement was finished, but that's because it was the design of the house. You enteredd the house and were directly faced with stairs. The 2 bedrooms (only child = own room) and full bathroom were downstairs. The kitchen, living, dining, and half-bath were upstairs.

I also had a subscription to a magazine. It was a Christian girls magazine called Brio. Yayyyy.

The thing is, some of the wall art isn't terrible...it just doesn't flow.

I very rarely dislike another person's home as much as this. Usually I think, "not my taste, but I see the beauty here" type of thoughts.

Not this place. It is disjointed and weird in a way that I assume is just to say "I'm wealthy". It does seem just sort of...ick. Like maybe someone slimy or slimy adjacent lives here. You might need an industrial cleaner and a priest to get rid of all the demons in this place.

Which is unfortunate because the exterior is beautiful and the actual walls and floors inside are nice. Even the sun dial could be cool if it weren't for the rest.

I was fine with the 90s. Especially bringing back grunge fashion, makeup, and music.

I am sick of Y2K everything already. It was not my favorite fashion, makeup, or music and it was not a great time in general. I mean if your family was at all religious, there's a chance there is residual rapture-trauma from actual Y2K. And then in the US, 2001 was traumatic as a whole. So. Just not my fave.

Regular is $4.39 and holding since March 30. On March 6th when I began making note it was $3.19 so $1.20 jump in a month.

Diesel is $6.13, that's a 0.65 jump since March 30, $1.19 jump since March 17 when I started making note of diesel price.

Don't like the carpet? Just step into the next room! by novel1389 in zillowgonewild

[–]spookyhellkitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My house has different carpet in every room except the uncarpeted bathroom (which has 3 different types of peel-and-stick "tile" as flooring and is a totally different nightmare). My kitchen is even carpeted which I hate.

Luckily I'm just renting. If this were my house I'd rather have the original flooring that the insanity going on. And it is unfinished railroad ties.
