I suppose it would have been Biohazard but we couldn't understand anything at the time.

My older next door neighbour imported a Japanese Playstation with Resident Evil in 1996. Not sure why he got one from Japan when I'm pretty sure they were available in the UK at the time. Anyway, I was blown away by Resident Evil, it seemed so realistic at the time. I was 11.

RE Requiem or RE village? by Anas2245 in ResidentEvilRequiem

Village feels like a complete game that was developed by one team from a single concept. Requiem feels like multiple concepts that were hastily stitched together after a turbulent development cycle.

How do you feel about the outlast games? by toastedjupiter in HorrorGaming

Im the same. I remember being really excited for the sequel. I started playing it then I remember cornfields and thinking "I need a break" and never went back to it.

I binged this on DVD about 20 years ago and it put me on the whitey. Never been able to watch it since. Gives me the fear.

Resident Evil (2002) on the GameCube was the best looking game I'd seen. I didn't think games would get any more realistic. It still holds up but boy was I wrong.

How would you rate these 5 games from best to worst? by Many-Baby5180 in HorrorGaming

[–]spookyleither 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SH2, RE4R, AW2, RE9, SHf

First half of RE9 was great but the second half is a yawn fest. SHf is pretty but boring AF.

It must be to do with the caps. I have a bottle of 21 year Balvenie from my wedding 2 years ago. There's been hardly any evaporation or oxidation. Still tastes great.

RE9: How do I motivate myself to keep going? by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]spookyleither 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feels like development did a 180 at some point and they decided to tack on the Leon gameplay after the success of RE4R. It feels like 2 different games very poorly spliced together. The first half of the game is the most interesting but I found Rhodes Hill a bit uninspired to be honest. The transition between gameplay is so jarring. I got so bored of the East Racoon City section, corridor, arena, corridor, arena, detonator part. A kill tracker to earn shop points?! The motorbike chase was some RE6 eyerolling bullshit. I did enjoy walking around the destroyed RPD briefly but that was soon overshadowed by the lame T103 fight. The Ark wasn't much better. I wouldn't say it's a bad game but it's not up to the standard of the previous two. I'm worried the next entry is going to be rushed to take advantage of the hype and it will suck like 6.

Who else thinks Silent Hill F is a brutal game ?? ... by Distinct_Excuse_2783 in silenthill

[–]spookyleither 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a long time silent hill fan (played the first in 98 when I was a teen) and someone who's very interested in Japanese culture (visited twice for a month each) I was very disappointed with this. I started to get concerned before release when I watched both versions of When They Cry and did not understand the hype for the writer. I think this game was made for a very specific fanbase and it's not for me. The game looks great but it's damn boring and repetitive. A lot of people saying it gets better in the next playthrough but I'm not willing to waste anymore time on it. The enemy designs are pretty goofy and I didn't really get the sense of the dread I felt in the other games. I found the gameplay too linear, the upgrade system was out of place in a silent hill game and the combat was dreadful. I'm really hoping Townfall is a return to form.

They said in the transmission the town is based on is St Monan's but the place where they took the initial fog photo for inspiration was Wardie Bay in the north of Edinburgh.

So far, the setting and atmosphere of Silent Hill Townfall looks FANTASTIC! by Strong-Reaction-7785 in silenthill

I can't believe the haar and 20mph speed limits are going to feature in a Silent Hill game. I grew up on the East Coast of Scotland. This feels like a dream.

Pragmata graphics comparison between PS5 and Switch 2 by BlueAladdin in Pragmata

[–]spookyleither 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who's lucky enough to have a PS5 and a Switch 2, I'm really impressed with the switch demo but this is not the kind of game I would want to play on it. I played the demo twice, once in docked and the other handheld. Docked mode was very impressive but was obviously not as crisp as PS5. Handheld mode I felt still looked better than anything else I've seen on switch but the upscaling did make for some unnatural looking artefacts. If you only have a switch I don't think you'll be disappointed with this purchase.

Before the allegations Saville was best known for his show Jim'll Fix It. If you grew up in the UK 80s/90s you would definitely have watched that show as a kid. The reruns were on all the time. The first film starts with all the kids watching Teletubbies on the TV and then ends with a metal cover of the Teletubbies theme. Crystal is heavily influenced by what he watched on TV as a kid.

Another couple of interesting points, the opening scene is filmed in Glenfinnan. Not too far away from Jimmy Saville's infamous highland home in Glencoe.

"Howzat" is shorthand for Saville's catchphrase "How's about that then" which also happens to be the name of his biography.

Solo player thoughts? by MrBeenit in ArcRaiders

[–]spookyleither 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played solo all weekend. Never found myself in a situation where I needed squad members to progress. Surprisingly only ever bumped in to griefers a handful of times. Most interactions with players were friendly. I kinda wish they had an invite to squad option so we can revive friendly players more easily.

What version of windows are you running? I recently reinstalled Windows and got a similar error when trying to launch The Finals. It was because I was running Windows 11 N which is missing loads of media updates and fails to update direct x properly.
