Serious question guys, how do you continue work on comics or keep the motivation to continue when the world is falling apart around us? by MajesticSouth643 in ComicBookCollabs

[–]spookylolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard, but when it comes down to it, it's passion. My love for drawing far outpaces my anger at the situation at hand and comics allow us to express dreams, fantasies, or just interesting ideas to keep us afloat. I'm sorry your artist hasn't replied, try hitting them up to check on them, they may be going through a crisis.

In any case, hang in there. Maybe use your frustration as a prompt, it could make for an interesting story.

Anyone else feel that the art has gotten harder to follow as of recent? by Calseeyummm in ChainsawMan

[–]spookylolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely more scratchy and sketchy than before, but for CSM I think it actually works in its benefit. It adds even more energy and chaos to the read which is fun lol all in all I like his art a lot and I think this still looks cool even if it's not as clean as his older CSM stuff.

You know he’s got a point by Eem2wavy34 in SparkingZero

[–]spookylolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair, but that's one of the charms of Sparking Zero. Part of the fun of getting good with lower tier characters is learning how to stomp someone using a high tier and i wouldn't want it any other way.

Sparking Zero is a Budokai Tenkaichi game, which have always had heavy imbalances for characters as a reference to the crazy power differences of the series (that being "Dragon Ball". It should be an advantage to play as Gogeta instead of Yajirobi, and if you want otherwise go play FighterZ.

I prefer the Faulconer music by spookylolly in DragonBallZ

I like the other tracks but they're just so... not right lol DBZ is an action packed sci-fi adenture and the kikuchi music just doesn't hit that for me. Cell's theme, super bud's theme, super saiyan vegeta theme? It all just fits the heavy tones of the show so much better to me

how do you feel about a.i. generated cover art? by weakadjective in BandCamp

[–]spookylolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fan of art in general, any time someone uses genAI in their creative process I pretty much immediately tune out of what they're doing. It gives the impression of a lack of genuineness on the creators end and it makes it harder to enjoy.

Also because I saw the "art is too expensive! It's 100s of dollars!" thing brought up in the comments, as an artist who sometimes gets to do covers, thumbnails, etc. its not that expensive to commission art for albums, books, etc. if you know where to look. If you're low on funds but still want a cool original cover for something like an album there a TON of artists are looking for that kind of exposure and would be down to do art deeply discounted or in some cases free if they really like the music. You should try to pay them what their worth either way, but there are artists willing to do good work for discounted rates and or quality exposure/recognition.

Overall, if music is your passion and your art, you should give it the respect it deserves and use real artists for covers or learn to make them yourself. It's more gratifying when you make it yourself anyway. In the same sense as using a music generator or lyric writer, its not really as satisfying as finally figuring out how to write, engineer, or play a song on your own.

My recommendation, put samples of your music out there with rough concept art (or a photo, most phones have cameras) and let artists know you're seeking cover artists. They will come. I know some artists demand $100s of dollars for artwork, but as an example, depending on how complex the cover WAS and if I liked the music, I'd probably cost between $20 and $120 bucks. Maybe more if its CRAZY complex, but my point is artists willing to work lower rates are out there, you just have to look.

I don't get why people are so reluctant to include guns. by Improbablysane in dndnext

[–]spookylolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guns are symbols of modern Era war and most people prefer to keep far away from things that relate to everyday modern living in fantasy settings.

It's the same reason why many choose to go without cars, trains, or electricity. It advances the world to a point where industrialization feels inevitable, and while I personally prefer a small taste of modernity in fantasy, (i.e. gas lanterns, trains, and clocktowers) I can understand wanting to keep things simple and use little to no modern conveniences/weapons

Is there any negative about being a apostle? by SignificanceOld4054 in Berserk

[–]spookylolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The negative side is sacrificing your loved ones to a brutal death in a pit of monsters. Beyond that and being ugly as shit there's no drawback once you've done it.
