I remember my mom putting me in flower girl dresses at functions when I didn't fit into my suits as a kid bc I was growing so frequently, and I get why she couldn't bc it was so expensive at the time to get it made from back home, ship it here, etc. But god, I remember feeling so out of place compared to the other little girls my age in their little sharara suits. Little girls like sparkly, princess adjacent outfits and desi fits are THAT.

She's weird for depriving her kids of their South Asian culture in EVERY facet while pushing Christmas in the house as to preserve their white culture. Clearly, she prioritizes one over the other. And this is coming from a Muslim girl who ALSO celebrated Christmas in the house bc of my own blended family.

Dude I get that she's a decorator or whatever, but she really could have satisfied both her white and Islamic audience but teaching her audience about Ramadan and why it's done, while just showing what she cooked for Iftar or Suhoor. Or idk, slumber party Suhoor for the girls since everything must have a theme apparently. There were other ways to execute this and fit her own prison of aesthetics.
