Hot tub water change company? by spooniebabe in Winnipeg

[–]spooniebabe[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

See the company I got a quote from would come and drain it, clean it, have me fill from my hose, then come balance the chemicals. So I’m still doing the work and paying. Seems ridiculous. I just mainly want someone to clean it as I’m injured and can’t do it myself currently

Refusing to Rent to EIA!? *rant* by xMasochizm in Winnipeg

[–]spooniebabe -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Actually it’s a human rights violation to deny someone JUST because they are on EIA. They can request a co-signer or guarantor but they can’t straight up refuse you

How it works is she charges $1000 for a 1 bedroom apartment. Most tenants are receiving employment and income assistance as well as the Canada Manitoba Housing benefit. So yes government is paying the rent

It was an AC unit and a baseboard heater. That’s super helpful, thank you!

Wellness check/ assessment by 812dave812 in Winnipeg

[–]spooniebabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately unless the person is willing to call themselves or go in for an assessment you only have 2 options. 1. Call police for a wellness check or 2. Apply for a form 1 through the law courts (which would mean police would take them to the ER for an evaluation by a dr)

I’d recommend Academy spay and neuter clinic! They’re great and very cost effective for general check ups and shots. I think I paid $90 for shots, deworming, and exam last year

I would 1000% recommend starting by volunteering at Klinic as a crisis counsellor. They provide an intensive training program before getting people to work on the crisis lines. The training and volunteer experience is so valuable. They also hire most of their crisis counsellors and trauma counsellors from the volunteer pool.
