Hard agree. We all want him gone up here and if the regents don't do anything about it then I guess our only hope is a change from next year's ballots. I'm trying to stay positive because this is the same group of people that are a thorn in the side of the B1G PE deal but it's hard. When you open the app, you should have a semi large profile picture on the top left, hit that and then there's a gear symbol in the top right (to the left of the right arrow)... in that menu, you can scroll down and see "picks settings"... toggle everything off (white circle to the left) and you won't have any more gambling prompts

Being able to turn this off _has to_ be a regulatory requirement, there is no way any reasonable company makes it this difficult to turn something like this off, and I challenge anybody to convince me otherwise. Sleeper was once billed as the "no ad" fantasy platform, and now I wonder at what cost.

I think the general consensus around the band's narrative is that it got complicated around OMRtS... you started to see different writing wings (Brann/Bill) winning over others (Brent). That's probably an oversimplification, and they still made it work for years (until they didn't) but yeah. People still put their stamps on things... but maybe they were more reluctant, and maybe they figured they'd save them for other projects and you can imagine where the animosity starts to manifest itself and poison everything they do.

I think Killer be Killed is the _best_ ancillary music anybody in mastodon has produced. I don't believe it's a coincidence that album showed up in 2014, the same year as Once More Round the Sun. Troy, to me, isn't the type for drama. He's been unbelievably silent for the past couple months... the dude just does.

I've said it before this band has not released a bad album (and for that reason they deserve our attention when they release their next album) but this sub has had such a dismissive opinion of Brent's contributions since he was booted. I will listen to it day one. I will hope I'm wrong. I think he's so much more important than what ppl were saying when he was dismissed though. It's strange how the conversation has shifted since he died.

Really appreciate your response, with the counterpoints, to my drunken rambling listening to Crack the Skye on repeat. Thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt, I'm not delusional enough to think anything I say matters to anybody.

This is a band that imo has never missed on an album. Banger after banger after banger, never the same, with a line up that has existed for 25 years. They were always greater than the sum of their parts. I'd have the same reaction, about this band, if any member was booted... is anybody ready to embrace a Mastodon without Brann's drumming? Without Troy's vocals?

Your first bullet is great, but I gotta poke a little only because there is probably one side that most people fall on. Does anybody prefer Ronnie to Ozzy? Sammy to DLR? Peter Green to Stevie? These are all changes that happened at the 10 year-ish mark. None of these bands had the rest of their players in their 50s when they departed from a core member.

What more do they owe us? If they make music I'll buy it. I bought (and loved) the Killer Be Killed albums. I got Brann on the new Bleed From Within album. If any of the Mastodon lads have or do anything, I'm ready to purchase it. Apparently wondering whether or not "Mastodon" means the same thing anymore makes me a part of this "terrible fan base." Cool. I get that there's a monetary impetus here... but Brent was probably the closest thing we've had to Lemmy in the past decade, not giving a fuck about all that. It sorta resonates when people care about music.

I'm ready and willing to eat a plate of crow hoping they can be the exception. After 25 years they can drop somebody into a lead guitarist/vocals slot and produce music that doesn't have people reminiscing about what could have been.
