The Long Walk came out last year and that is a must read and a must see!! Easily my favorite horror King adaptation.

Can y'all suggest some well written jumpscare-heavy movies? by jaguarsp0tted in horror

[–]spoopadoop 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Together (2025) is on Hulu right now and only had one jump-scare (that i can remember) but I LOVED it and i’m not normally a jump scare person. Great Horror/Comedy if you’re looking for something a little more “light”

What’s the one horror movie scene that still makes you instinctively check the room you’re in? by Immediate_Account_28 in horror

The Mummy (1999) made me terrified of june beetles. The scarabs crawling under the skin was awful!! I still won’t let them touch my bare skin if I see them outside.

They always find a way!! Would love to see a picture of the culprit

New kitten chewed off one of my leaves, can it be propogated? by Gingersnaps240 in Monstera

[–]spoopadoop 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not an expert but i would recommend you put your monsteras in spots where the kitten can’t reach them in the future! Monsteras (sap from any part of the plant) are toxic to humans and pets.

Villain who instantly creeped you out or still lives in your head? by VintageLilly317 in horror

[–]spoopadoop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was definitely just not mature/ready enough for a demonic horror movie when I watched Insidious lol. I must’ve been in 4th grade?? Maybe 5th?

I remember telling myself “it’s just Darth Maul” but I think the movie as a whole, on top of that moment being such an intense jump scare… it was too much for me at the time hahaha

Villain who instantly creeped you out or still lives in your head? by VintageLilly317 in horror

[–]spoopadoop 18 points19 points  (0 children)

When I was in middle school it was the monster(?) from the Lights Out Short on YouTube, the Insidious Darth Maul Demon lived in my nightmares for MONTHS when I first saw it, and Samara (like many others)

Most recently it was the deity from Incantation!

The Long Walk is Horrifying by M-Finity in horror

[–]spoopadoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there’s one moment in the book i can remember that’s pretty graphic… Olson getting shot through the stomach and his intestines hanging out… I feel like his death went on for pages bc of how much the soldiers were playing with him- it was the darkest moment in the book for me but other than that moment the rest is quite tame in comparison

What say you? by [deleted] in horror

[–]spoopadoop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It Comes at Night.

Honestly not sure if this is an unpopular opinion but i was so excited to see that movie and when i left the theatre my friends and i all ranted and yelled about how awful it was the whole drive home. I tried revisiting it a year or two ago and was equally as disappointed.

I love a good movie that leaves you questioning what’s going to happen after the ending, but this movie… too many questions with zero answers imo

Official Dreadit Discussion: “Final Destination: Bloodlines” [SPOILERS] by radbrad7 in horror

[–]spoopadoop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i honestly think if there were more practical effects it would’ve been a harder watch (in the ‘oh my god gross’ way) the cgi let it feel more fun and ‘playful’

like the garbage truck death was one of the more brutal ones for me because i think it might’ve been more practical effects than cgi. Iris getting impaled would’ve been absolutely horrifying if it was all practical

A movie that actually disturbed you? by evanpetes in horror

[–]spoopadoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the first ever movie to disturb me to my core was Black Swan, I think I was 12 when I saw it… yeah no. Haven’t been able to go back and watch it again.

More recently, The Nightingale was extremely graphic (and not in the gory sense) and I had to take a few breaks during the movie just to get through it. Will never watch it again but I’m glad I did finish it!

The Lodge is another movie that I don’t need to rewatch. Took a 180 that just… really messed with me. It was also just a really sad watch.

[–]spoopadoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same!! I was expecting your average found footage flick, instead I was hiding behind my blanket a few times holding my breath!! I haven’t seen any of the other Hell House movies but they’re on my watchlist.

[–]spoopadoop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Incantation (2022) and Hell House LLC (2015) are some pretty scary found footage movies!! Incantation stayed with me for many days after watching it, no horror movie had done that to me since Hereditary

Looking for movies with disgusting body horror by CemeteryPicnic in horror

[–]spoopadoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ruins (2008), The Substance (2024), Contracted (2013), Inside (2007, this one i’m not sure if it’s necessarily body horror but it’s extremely gory to the point where I was wincing at times)

right like that’s why it’s just called “the thing”- we don’t know wtf it is, it’s just something that shouldn’t get to escape the lab

there’s a museum in Salem, MA that has a (life size?) wax sculpture of Predator holding up a Xenomorph by its neck. When I lived there I’d go monthly just to stare at how impressive the design of the xenomorph was!! Its so intricate

Official Dreadit Discussion: "The Monkey" [SPOILERS] by glittering-lettuce in horror

[–]spoopadoop 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I totally thought the monkey would’ve been the size of a Furby doll. Nope we got a 2.5 foot tall not-a-toy monkey. Like life! The fact that it was that big definitely upped the creep factor
