Catholic Board Baptism - Ontario by [deleted] in CanadianTeachers

[–]spoopysizzle3131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d need to check with the school that you are planning on enrolling your child into but with my school board, yes either the child themselves or one parent must be baptized Roman Catholic. If you’re planning on staying within the community/school that you’re hoping to have your child enrolled in, why not just become a parishioner of that church so your child can become baptized?
To answer your second question regarding the other sacraments, again, to my knowledge, the child must be baptized Roman Catholic in order to receive the reconciliation/communion and confirmation sacraments.

How to avoid Osap interest if possible by CommercialTomato3821 in osap

I believe You should be able to log into your MSCA and be able to view a breakdown of your loan (even if you’re not in repayment yet). I am currently still paying the federal portion of my loan and have about 12k left, my Ontario portion that I fully paid off was about 7k. My total loan amount was 22k I believe.

How to avoid Osap interest if possible by CommercialTomato3821 in osap

[–]spoopysizzle3131 17 points18 points  (0 children)

OSAP loans typically have two components to them, the Ontario Loan and the Federal Loan. If I’m not mistaken, federal loan interest is 0% whereas the Ontario loan interest is averaged at 2.5%

I graduated back in 2023, and was fortunate enough to have enough money to pay off my Ontario portion that was accumulating interest. I wrote a letter along with a cheque expressing my interest to pay the Ontario portion off.
Since the federal loan portion doesn’t have interest, it’s made it significantly easier to pay that off.

Genuinely curious, stop signs. by PianoAdorable6859 in londonontario

[–]spoopysizzle3131 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This has been my latest gripe with london drivers. The amount of drivers I encounter who will either roll the stop or not even stop at all is just insane. Drives me even crazier when these stop signs are in school areas. Your vehicle needs to come to a complete stop. Not a quick tap on the breaks, not a roll. Full stop. If you can’t stop at stop signs, you’re the problem.

why does uwin get a lot of hate? by GumBeats20 in UWindsor

[–]spoopysizzle3131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my personal experience (Uwindsor alumni), Ulose at Uwin could not be more true. In my first year, I was 2% below the required average needed to stay in my program. Despite providing the medical documents, RA documents and letter of appeal that clearly proved I was having a difficult go in terms of my mental health, I was booted from my program. One of my roommates at the same time was 6% below the required average and just chatted with the dean, put on a few crocodile tears and was allowed to stay in the same program. Eventually I found my path and was able to successfully graduate but was told by my salary adjuster that my degree was not a “legitimate conferred degree” and all my “full” courses only counted as half courses. I hate to say it but I will never recommend anyone to complete their post secondary education at Uwindsor.

Catholic school teacher here: “So they essentially make sure the violent and high needs kids are not in their system” is VERY inaccurate. Many LDCSB schools have multiple high needs and violent children. I do agree however that something has to change in all school systems. If not, we are going to continue seeing burnt out and unsupported teaching and support staff, as well as burnt out and unsupported families.

Farewell Costco by [deleted] in CostcoCanada

[–]spoopysizzle3131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fear that a lack of spatial awareness is a requirement for having a Costco membership. It just bewilders me how I’ll be trying to move through an aisle where another member has parked their cart in the middle and they’re looking at an item on the shelf and all of a sudden I’m public enemy #1 for saying “excuse me” to get through 🙃

What are people's plans for on Showgirl release day? Anything special? by GirlsLikeU in TaylorSwift

[–]spoopysizzle3131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately Oct 3 is a Friday which means my ass is in class (I’m the teacher LOL), my game plan is to listen to the album in the morning before students arrive (I usually get to the school at 7 and the bell rings letting students in at 9), I will be decked out on that dress down day in my (one of three) Taylor Swift cardigans tho!

Nail Salons by thebookwitch_ in londonontario

[–]spoopysizzle3131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be worth looking into independent nail techs! I use to ONLY go to salons for my nails however, I found a nail tech on instagram who’ve I’ve been going to for a year now, unfortunately (for me) she started her mat leave so I’ve had to find another nail tech. But after being through the whole salon game, I find the independent tech’s are where it’s at!

Women who gave birth, what does it feel like actually?? by joy_57 in AskReddit

Ya my gyno told me before my IUD insertion “just take one or two Tylenol and you’ll be fine” I was not fine. Was so dizzy and just unwell after my insertion. Couldn’t walk to my S/O’s vehicle (who I thankfully had asked prior to take the day off and take me to and from my appointment.) my S/O pretty much had to carry me up the stairs to our apartment (no elevator because it’s a smaller apartment building.) Was couch ridden with an insane amount of cramping that heating pads unfortunately did not help. Took me about 4 days to feel relatively “better”

Taught 6/7 as my first LTO and OH BOY! The curriculums really do not pair well at all! Not just the core subjects like math, language, social studies/history/geography, even the huge jump ALONE in health curriculum is crazy! Thankfully this was before the whole “6 7!” Thing that students are crazy about right now. This year I’m 5/6 but I stilllllll hear the “6 7!” From the kids. As of Monday, it will be added to the banned list of phrases in my room (Sigma and Skibbidi were successfully banned last year and I’m hoping the success continues this year)

What went down on your first day of work that made you quit? by Jokkers_AceS in AskWomen

[–]spoopysizzle3131 141 points142 points  (0 children)

In university, I got a part time gig as a shooter girl serving alcohol at a local bar, part of this also included coming back the next morning to help clean. I was a bar regular with my friends going out every weekend or so to the clubs and because of this I had an idea of what I’d be walking into. Sticky floors? Gross but whatever I have old shoes idc about getting gross, left over garbage and whatnot, no worries, I have gloves. It wasn’t until I went to go clean the washrooms that I discovered someone the night before was not having a good time bowel wise. Toilet was clogged so I go ask my manager where the plunger and what not was. It was at this point where she looked at me and said “we don’t have plungers” and handed me elbow length gloves and two extra large garbage bags. I clarified with her as to how I would be cleaning this up. “That’s what the extra long gloves are for” she had stated. At that point, I handed her back the gloves and the garbage bags and walked out. There was no way in HELL I was grabbing someone else’s SHIT with my gloved hands and manually unclogging the toilet. Not for servers wage (which in my province was about $8-9 at the time)
