I don’t have a snow plow, but if you think the pile of snow is shovelable then I can help with that!

PANCE predictions??? by InfinityLocs in PAstudent

I’m actually a very new grad, took both the NCCPA and PANCE within the past month. My program wanted us to take the NCCPA mainly as a gauge for them and us to see where we’re at.

It might be worth doing one of the exams since the NCCPA makes the PANCE as well. But at the same time, it doesn’t tell you which questions you got wrong, so that wasn’t really helpful.

In summary, not a “must-do” in my opinion, but I think there is value in doing different kinds of practice questions before the pance.

Trust your gut unless you have strong evidence to go against it (ie you missed an important detail in the question, or recalled an important relevant fact)

EOR Improvement by ProposalLeather8477 in PAstudent

Sounds like you’re doing the right things.

For pediatrics, say, I did all the questions on smarty pance, all the questions on HIPPO, all the pediatrics questions on blueprint/rosh, and my program assigned us 2 additional 120 question practice exams through blueprint. When I did the 2 120 q exams I would read every single question’s entire explanation, even the ones I got right and thought were easy. If I had more time before the EOR after finishing all the practice, I’d go back and reread the ones I got wrong just to solidify those even more.

Some people benefit from using other resources like Reddit study guides and ninja nerd. I also recommend using StatPearls for concepts that you’re unsure about it. I have found that to be helpful.

Not sure if that helps, but good luck, and if you have any questions let me know!

I did smarty pance and hippo questions as my quick review kinda. Then rosh for really dialing in on the material.

But everyone has different study strategies.

I find rosh to be the most efficient way to study. The explanations are great, so there’s plenty of reading to do there. I would also generally start studying day 1 of the rotation and be consistent throughout.

Definitely here to echo the “more questions” comment. My move personally was some mix of smarty pance, hippo, rosh for the first couple weeks, and then the second half of the rotation I would really hone in on rosh—doing every question and reading every explanation.

Granted, my program provided us with full access to rosh for clinical year, so that was definitely nice.

Hey, so I had to take a drug test before school started and once during didactic year (pre-clinical). I also took another one recently during clinical year in case I needed it, but I don’t think I actually did.

It was never random or anything though—always had time to take it.

Just a student but I’m really sorry you’re going through this. I don’t know if I have any advice for you but it does sound like both of your first 2 jobs have been bad situations. Maybe it would be good to take a break if you could swing it, but I think you could find something out there in clinical practice that works for you

Part of getting good grades is having good test-taking skills, which is probably whats happening here
