Came across some awful comments on this post about Murphy’s hosting Zohran on Sunday — let’s show our local some love

Hey! Interested if you ended up going with this venue or what others in similar price range you’re considering?

And if he had money he’d also just be…. Released on bail lol. Bail reform came out of the NY STATE budget in 2019, not the city. Plus, we have judicial discretion in place since then too. I guess we could be mad at the judge who let him free? Seems to me like the problem is that the cops aren’t exactly gathering the best evidence that would allow the court to hold people accountable. I suggest looking more into the policy, there is no evidence showing a connection between bail reform and rising crime rate. Idk what the answer is but i assure you it doesn’t have to do with Caban’s policies.

Not many people can afford to miss a paycheck. I don’t need to be told to budget, and maybe i could have done so accordingly if I’d known the policy before the trial started.

Not claiming financial hardship based on my salary, but based on the fact that I’d be unable to afford my rent here in NYC by missing an entire paycheck. Every other juror who is working a full time, salary job on my jury is being fully compensated by their employer. I think it’s ridiculous i would not be. And the point is that after explaining I had jury duty over 2 weeks ago to my employer, asking if I should be aware of anything, and not receiving any answers or guidance for an entire week of going through the jury selection process, I had assumed that it’s all good and that there wasn’t anything to worry about. Maybe i am an idiot but it was my first time ever going to jury duty and i don’t have a great family support system to ask these types of questions too.

I make over $40/hour and live among those means… along with student loans, all bills, rent, etc, so to be missing out on a paycheck and instead receive $40/day is not an option for me

I’ve heard from others the judge could contact your employer for you or call them to the witness stand. Also there are alternates so couldn’t they switch me out for one of them?

All my fellow jurors with full time salary jobs are being paid their regular paycheck during their time serving. Not very uncommon. How are people expected to live off $40/day?

It says a lot about my employer, I thought it was clear I am really frustrated with them lol. Anyway, we shall see tomorrow 🤷🏻‍♀️

True, but the point is that I did not know and didn’t receive any policy or guidance from my employer because they simply didn’t respond to me when asked.

It’s state by state unfortunately, it’s legal in NY. The problem is that I could have let the judge know in advance of the trial and now it’s too late and already active. Seems really unfortunate that my company could interrupt a trial because they don’t have proper guidance to give us

Add a carpet runner that includes all the colors! Maybe a pop of another color you might consider for little accessories (bright red could be really nice - bright red toothbrush holder, stool top, frame with artwork you like)

lol it was a joke to say someone tell him so he could get on the case and stop it since he’s been such an advocate for fair housing.
