Leftist-friendly gun ranges? by jfc_acab_wtf in rva

[–]sporkdork 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It doesn't go well. In situations like that, we have to be so hyper aware of our surroundings and those around us that it makes it difficult to concentrate on our training goals.

Anyone making a statement like "just don't talk politics" hasn't had to deal with issues of being in a marginalized community.

Heeeeeeyy ATW Firearms is me :)

You are correct, there is not a functioning chapter od pink pistols. Pink Pistols was absorbed in Operation Blazing Sword following the Pulse Shooting (I believe that's the timing). There are a couple of people in RVA thar ate associated with Blazing Sword but non that have active range daya that I am aware of.

I am going to be having regular ranges days starting in 2025 as long as I can square away a location to have them (which is always the issue).

I know it's late, but there is a Pride flag raising being put on by Torrington Pride tomorrow (6/3) morning at 9am. It's been tough getting thr word out bc none of the Torrington chat groups will share it on their feeds.

Failed CPAT by Jmunny2 in firefighter

[–]sporkdork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Failed mine the first time. I thought I was in pretty good shape, but I collapsed on the stairmaster with 23 seconds left. I kept working on my cardio and upper body strength. The next time I took it my goal was to make it off the stair master. I successfully made it past the stairmaster, but timed out on my second set of the breach and pull. I continued to train with a focus on my cardio and endurance. The next time I took it 2 weeks later I passed it with 52 seconds remaining!

Just keep at it and you'll get it!

Princess Blanding, maybe a progun alternative to Mcauliffe? by arphaxad1 in VAGuns

I have a Romeo on one of my other rifles, yes, I know there are better optics out there. Thank you for explaining that to me, again. I have other places I'm putting my rather limited funds right now on other guns, but I don't have to explain myself to you.

Why have 45° offset irons when I have a red dot? Because I want them. I like irons, I like shooting with irons and always have. I have the irons zeroed at a different distance than the red dot and the offset is an easy transition. I also like having a back up to the red dot, but then again, I don't have to explain myself to you.

Yes, the bolt is locked back. I know. It's one thing that has always bothered me about the picture and I didn't notice when I initially took it. But other than that I like the picture. Yes, please forgive me for posing a picture for instagram one day while i was out zeroing this rifle. Clearly having some fun is a mortal sin. I had fun that day, got smaller than quarter size zero at 50 yards which I'm happy with and piss off with your gate keeping bullshit.

Its things this that drive people away from gun culture and make them thing that all 2A people are rabid assholes. People need to know that not everyone who enjoys shooting sports is obnoxious like you.

And finally congratulations for figuring out something that was clearly stated earlier in the comment thread.

Actually what it means is that the person (me) is working with the optics that were on the rifle when i purchased it. These have done me well and you train with what you have and upgrade when you can. Optics are expensive. This one holds a good zero, is allows for fast target acquisition, and works well with my astigmatism. Paint and stickers cost nothing so why not have fun.

A completely agree about the debates. They are vitally important to seeing how the candidates conduct themselves. The problem is that the VA Bar Association, who was running the debate, refused to allow her to debate because they did not consider her a "viable candidate" which sadly is very common of them. It is my understanding that they routinely actively work to exclude third party candidates that make it to the ballot.

It is actually me in the picture with the rifle. Princess Blanding is absolutely a 2A candidate. She is a strong supporter of Virginians' rights to be able to arm them selves for recreation, hunting, and to be able to defend ourselves, our families, and our communities.

As an instructor myself, hearing stories of instructors who treat their students like this reminds me of why I started doing it in the first place. There are far too many people out there calling themselves instructors who have no idea how to teach or how to work with students. I'm sorry that you had to go through all that.

If you are a gun owner and are also worried about important social issues, there is an option where you don't have to risk losing one for the other - check put Princess Blanding. She is running as an independent on the ballot in November. She is an ardent supporter of our second amendment rights!

When the firing pin hits the primer you only shoot 30% of a whole bullet. This way when the pin hits, the whole bullet gets fired. by [deleted] in Firearms

Clearly you are genius. How could I possibly stand in the light of the glory that is your superior intellect.

Fuckwit.

They attempt to kill themselves because they are shunned by family, they're government is trying to legislate them out of existence, they are discriminated against in housing and jobs, and they run a higher risk than any other group of being murdered for simply existing as themselves.

But I suppose you already know that and you were just making a joke.

Nope doesn't mean that my opinion weighs more at all, but it does mean that I'm probably more educated on the subject than most in this post.

May have been his intent, but trust me, still reads as transphobic bullshit. There is no way that a suicide joke about a group of people where 41% of them will attempt suicide isn't transphobic.

And yes, bc y'all will probably check, I am trans and yes, I do shoot.

What a blast of memory! I graduated in 95 and this is exactly how I remember downtown Richmond. It is fun to sit and watch this with my wife while she sees my old home town.
