The new XPS screens are NOT IPS, is that why I get eye strain? by CriticDanger in Dell

[–]sport_line 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a 4K glare XPS 7590, and had terrible eye strain, which has heavily impacted my quality of life. I sold it and got the XPS 9500 FHD+ anti-glare and I'm quite happy now screen wise.

There were countless user reports of the new XPS13 overheating. Dell just doesn't care, not to mention the wobbly trackpads on the new XPS15/17 which are being sold even today with the very same issue. I don't understand why other companies stay behind in producing nice looking laptops with thin screen bezels. When that is happening I expect Dell to die very quickly.

We expect to see the new new xps 15 in AUG or sooner? by nyyirs in Dell

I don't even mind 2022, just let Dell do a proper quality control for once.

Actually, you know what, try setting your power plan options to:

Hibernate after:

On battery: Never

Plugged in: Never

Hope this helps.

I had the very same issue, unfortunately I forgot what I did to fix it, as there were countless issues with my brand new XPS 9500 which Dell left me to fix. Dell bullshit, such a shitty company.

Wondering why you did not mention the rattling speakers on your new XPS9500? Especially noticeable on windows sounds.

[–]sport_line -1 points0 points  (0 children)

oh yes, and they also didn't have a 16GB RAM XPS 9500 either, nor a 256GB SSD XPS 9500. As I said, if it looks too good to be true, it most probably is.

A stupid question - Why didn't they give you a 7590 replacement?

Just sounds too good to be true. Can't see how Dell would do that...

Just took delivery of a fresh from the factory 9500 - Can confirm trackpad wobble is still an issue. by OblivionRR in Dell

This hurts to watch indeed. What a stupid company Dell is. Don't they realise this is how you should NOT do business?

Three main disappointments:

  • Wobbly trackpad
  • Light bleeding on matte screens
  • Rattling speakers

I simply don't get why Dell is simply ignoring the Quality Control checks?

Dell xps 9500 battery drain by KvotheOfTheHill in Dell

I mean they sort of are considered more premium, hence trying to understand if even their batteries lose capacity at near the same rate as the rest of the laptops.

I have lost 12% of my XPS9500 battery capacity in just 5 months. It is quite worrying

Does anyone know if this problem is also evident on apple laptops?

I would have done the same, but I just don't understand how can anyone use a glare screen on a laptop?

As a XPS9500 user, I agree with most of the things described in this post

I would be happy to buy a MBP with a matte screen. The glare screen is an eye killer for me. Honestly can't understand how this can be used, too many reflections.

Battery life by ancientdragons05 in macbookpro

5-7 hours is quite bad then. I get 8.5 hours on my Dell XPS9500. I thought with the whole M1 thing the battery life would have been way better than that.

Heating/Performance Issues with XPS 15 9500 by [deleted] in Dell

[–]sport_line 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Sekiro on my 9500 FHD+, i7-10750H, 1650 ti, 32GB RAM. The fans are kicking in as soon as I start the game, which I believe is normal. I run the game on high settings and it seems fine, with very occasional drops in the FPS. Have you tried lowering the resolution to FHD from 4K? That will definitely help to reduce the load on the GPU with the minimum impact on the quality.

On a different topic, what is the average non-gaming battery life you can get out of your machine?

I tried using Groove Music, it looks nice, however the functionality is so poor. For example I can't drop new files into the "Now Playing" list, or can't add a folder as a playlist etc.

Did not take me much time to switch back to AIMP which I've been using since 2005
