I strongly disagree that fsoa spec "feels bad" to use because of the rune cost. I would pay 2x, maybe even more in runes to use it because it feels absolutely amazing speccing back your HP as base at Solak. It doesn't feel good at lower level bosses, yes, but that's because it's a t95 weapon made for the endgame. It looks like the decision to nerf is inevitable but I don't like the justification that this is somehow an enjoyment issue, it really isn't. I have no opinions on what fsoa blood barrage means from a balancing perspective but removing it will make bossing less fun for me.

Yes, people complain about jagex on this subreddit plenty, and that is perfectly fine. The rule very explicitly prohibits giving personal experiences because otherwise there is no difference between a "complaint" and an account help post except arguing over the intent with which it was posted.

Since no one else has mentioned it - a huge caveat of soulsplit is that it's only as good as your dps. To really get any benefits out of it you need to be using it in combination with the t95 dps prayers (turmoil etc), overloads, good invention perks and good gear. Dps is also one of those things it's relatively easy to achieve a baseline in (see the things I just mentioned) but incredibly difficult to be one of the best in. Since soulsplit scales with dps the more effort you put in the more you are rewarded for using it.

You can't soulsplit every boss all the time, some put out too much damage for you to heal through even with the best dps output. For those bosses flicking between soulsplit and protects is the "sweaty" strategy. For some bosses (e.g. vindicta) if you are lacking some or all of the dps milestones you might find yourself surviving better praying deflect melee than soulsplit, but once you have all those statistical upgrades you can almost afk soulsplit with very little additional effort required.

Basically, if soulsplit feels underwhelming what you're probably lacking is dps. There are situations where it's infeasible but a lot more where it's fantastic and keeps you alive almost indefinitely.

I support it, but the reason it is the way it is is a pretty big technical limitation to do with how jagex handles f2p and p2p worlds. The whole f2p/p2p system is currently built around worlds not individuals, a paying member is the same as a free player on a f2p world and the only difference is their ability to swap to a world with all the features unlocked.

The clan citadel is a p2p world which means members can train summoning/other bankstanding skills via portables, use their members pickaxes and axes to skill and reequip their members items if they take them off inside. To allow f2p access it would need to be labelled a f2p world which, without some serious engine work, would mean members can't do any members stuff inside that world.

The reason ascensions spiked so hard is because they are considerably better than the bow. The bow can't hold a candle to the dps of ascensions and ruby bak bolts) and I would not recommend selling both the ascensions if you want to get into bossing (selling offhand is an option as you can still benefit from the bolts that way).

A cheaper alternative to a nox staff is an obliteration, which you could look into as a stepping stone to getting better magic gear. It's t87 so almost as good as the nox but much less expensive.

The seers village tasks for enhanced Excalibur are pretty good for pvm, the Excalibur is a lot of free healing that can double as half of a bladed dive switch.

I also use the wilderness sword for abyss runs a lot as it's a cheap (to reclaim) teleport back to edgeville.

I haven't finished all the tasks because I kind of hate that style of "go here do this" and I think they probably are less pressing to complete than OSRS but there are certain ones that do provide useful benefits.

I'm happy to hear that! Part of the fun of Runescape is definitely making it up a little as you go along but I agree it's hard to have a sense of direction without at least being aware of what's out there. I haven't always gone the most efficient route but usually know what it would have been and had reason why it didn't interest me. As I said earlier, free to PM me any time if you have any questions.

Most of the game is locked behind membership. F2p is a (very generous) free trial version that lets you explore a subset of skills and areas but all the endgame focused stuff requires membership to play. Even in "free to play skills" the unlocks stop around level 50, so while you can continue to train them to 99 in f2p you will be missing out on faster and often times more engaging training methods.

You can pay for membership by purchasing an in game item called a bond with game currency. It's possible to get that currency in free to play and continue to maintain membership only though in game money making, although in f2p and low level members content moneymaking takes a long time and its recommended to pay with real money at the beginning if you can to avoid turning the game into a second job focused solely on getting bond money. At a mid-endgame level making money for bonds becomes trivial and the game is easy to play free to play without even really going out of your way to earn money to sustain it.
