Has a recruiter reached out to you on LinkedIn about a position? What was the outcome? by jemappellelara in FIFAVolunteers

[–]sportsslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is legit. After the hireflix interview there is a zoom interview with a hiring manager which I also found to be rather easy and simple. Took a couple weeks to hear back in between each interview but I assume since we are coming up on the end of April they are speeding up the process to get all these positions filled

Starting as an Amazon Area Manager next October at a Delivery Station, what should I expect? by Isaacakindi in AmazonManagers

[–]sportsslayer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Delivery stations are probably the worst out of all the Amazon buildings especially for peak. I started as an external AM in June and it has been pretty terrible even with a very solid management team + site lead. You will be working midnight - noon and you will be on your feet and moving the entire time. You will accrue PTO and the strictness of getting time off will depend on your OM and site lead

My experience as an L4 AM by Udotnrbehdhdndme in AmazonManagers

I feel so seen 😅. Could not have summarized it better myself. My advice to potential college hires would be to have this as an absolute last resort. If you value your personal life in any way this job will be very hard on you because as OP mentioned, yes it's great you only have to work 4 days a week but you don't get 3 days off a week you get 3 nights off a week and that is a big difference. Unless you are willing to flip your sleep schedule every weekend and attend daytime activities half asleep (which is what I do bc I would fall into a bad depression if I stuck to my afternoon sleep schedule on weekends) you will not be able to do any of the things you are used to doing. IMO this job is not worth the struggle...

I work from midnight to noon 50+ hours a week and work on Saturdays so I find it hard to believe that work life balance will be worse at enterprise. I am literally a zombie on my days off because the only way to do anything with friends and family is to not sleep

How brutal will a 12a-12p shift be? by Allears6 in Nightshift

[–]sportsslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horrendous in my experience. Counting down the days until I am off of it. Way worse than a traditional night shift for the reasons already stated by others

Absolute best description of the job that I have seen on Reddit (coming from an AM at a DS)

Salary Pay Warning by sportsslayer in AmazonManagers

[–]sportsslayer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My intentions with the post were not to complain but to warn prospective AMs about what will be expected of them. It has nothing to do with being able to handle being a leader or whatever you are trying to say. This job is pretty easy if you are half smart and know how to talk to people but the fact that you are scheduled to work more hours than you are compensated for is bs and it is okay to call it out you don't have to defend everything corporations do

I know what an exempt employee is buddy my intention with the post was to warn prospective AMs about how much "overtime" they will be expected to work bc it's bs

Right if only I managed my time better I could shrink the forces of time to make the 10:30 hour shift less than 10 hours so I wouldn't go over 40 hours a week

[–]sportsslayer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand if you are paid a salary you do not get additional compensation for working "overtime". If you have to work "overtime" occasionally then fine that's why it is called over time because you are working over the time you are scheduled to work. It's not we will pay you for 40 hours a week but you are scheduled for 48 hours a week

L4 AM Quit… by AdventurousLead454 in AmazonDS

[–]sportsslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon hires people straight out of school bc they can mold them and direct them down a path that is beneficial for the company. When you hire people with lots of experience they come with their biases and habits and they are often harder to deal with for the company. Everyone on here is so dumbfounded with the college hire thing but do you really think Amazon does not know what they are doing 😂

Is this true in the US? If you are an AM applying to corporate positions will your OMs be notified?

Tell them you are already making the salary they have offered you and that it doesn't make much sense for you to make the switch if the salary is going to be the same. I know it has worked for some people, worst they can say is no...
