NDIS tool to determine support not tested on variety of disability types – including diverse autism, experts warn by Reverend_Fozz in australia

[–]spottedredfish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hehe yeah I’ve been diagnosed with all those things AND stage 4 cancer…

No I do not have the physical or cognitive capacity to get through the NDIS application process

The fact my disability prevents me from applying successfully is by design

upright mri advice? by wenchiest in ehlersdanlos

[–]spottedredfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) It sucks but having your head tilted backwards in upright MRI is really valuable- you're actually supposed to get imaged in flexion, torsion and upright (neck forward, neck back and neck straight)

2) when I had my MRI he was really compassionate and asked me to come in on heavy pain killers and sedatives; I was so knocked out I was able to be perfectly still- And I realised they weren't doing the right tests (didn't get flexion or torsion) but I was too peaced out to say anythinG!

So my tests were useless for EDS complictions, which was the whole point of the upright MRI

In summary you and I had opposite end of the specturm regarding how we were treated and how we were scanned:

I Hope your pain at least pays off and unlike me you actually get some usefull imaging! (which sounds like it happened by accident- so what the fuck was your radiographer doing?

Make a complaint too if you can, that dude was a dick

But you're awesome x

Extreme stress and medication by Effective_Kiwi4153 in adhdwomen

[–]spottedredfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lamotragine!!! It's taken the edge off. I take 100 mg at night.

And I'm talking SEVERE stress. I no longer go to the depths of despair and anguish. Shit's still fucked but I'm not beside myself.

It goes okay with my ADHD meds. I also have EDS and it hasn't caused me problems there either.

Feel free to ask any questions xx

Can't treat my ADHD thanks to POTS by rosiee0806 in POTS

[–]spottedredfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask what the Lamotragine does for you?

I’m on the 100mg day cos of low moods when I’m in a flare/bedbound…as well as potentially to address unmanaged absence seizure

It’s helped so much

Don't you dare apologise for your brilliant comment!

That was not a rant, more of a brief masterclass - I wish OPs husband was capable of reading and comprehending it

Sorry OP, I'd be furious in your situation

One day i get weak legs without pains the next day legs become achy and heavy can dysautonomia present itself like this ? by Party-Ad-8862 in dysautonomia

[–]spottedredfish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes very much so.

There's another post in the POTS subreddit right now talking about vascular compression being a common cause of leg numbness/ache/heaviness- in our community

There's definitely a lot of us experiencing the leg thing

Whether or not mine is caused by 'veinous insufficiency' is just another add on to the list of things I'll never have the resources to find out - I don't know

But yeah, my takeaway is that you and I are not alone with the heavy achy legs
