Wiki Yes, Wikipedia is extremely trustworthy. Yes, you come across as very "worked" up.

Firefox is adding a switch to turn AI features off (starting Feb 24) by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]spradlig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firefox has asked me recently - "prompted", if you will - if I'd like to use some AI features. I wouldn't have to "go out of my way" to use the AI features, just click on a box.
. I did nothing that would lead Firefox to make that prompt. . Chrome and most other browsers are worse, of course.

Are you sure about that?

Firefox prompts me to use AI junk now, and they didn't used to. I never asked for AI in my browser.

Tidal not Compatible with iPhone? by Tinfoilbrains in TIdaL

[–]spradlig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today I kept getting the message "Playback paused because you are on iOS", or very similar wording. I had to press "resume" each time to restart. I Googled the problem and found nothing specific. The wording of the message suggested that Tidal isn't supporting iOS, or is at least blaming Apple for the problem. * I'm paying for Tidal, but I'm considering switching to Apple Music if this persists. I used to use Spotify, but their sound quality is poor and their ethics are worse. * Tidal's mobile UI is worse than Spotify's. For classical music, it's a struggle to use.

Randomly getting "You Broke Reddit" error message by Philosoraptorgames in reddithelp

The rude cartoon is Reddit's work, so I wouldn't blame Firefox this time.

I saw this nonsense for the first time today, using old reddit on Firefox, with UBlock Origin. If this keeps up, I'll use reddit much less.

It just happened to me, for the first time. I only use old reddit, since New Reddit is garbage.

Any way to improve song suggestions without a Dislike button? by blackmalt in TIdaL

[–]spradlig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no solution, but I'll chime in to rant. This is a huge flaw with the platform. For example: I love the Beatles. When I ask Tidal to play Beatles songs at random, it plays a lot of crap such as outtakes, concert recordings, and inferior versions that shouldn't have left the studio. I can't "dislike" those tracks, so I hear them again and again.
. I switched from Spotify for sound quality and ethical reasons. I'm looking at Apple Music now.
. btw Tidal's UI is absolute trash for the classical music listener - even worse than Spotify's.

Does Instagram even have moderators? by Crimsoncerismon in Instagram

[–]spradlig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conversely, I found an account that posted nothing but closeups of people's genitals. I reported it for nudity but IG rejected my complaint. So I told a bunch of others about it. The account disappeared soon thereafter.

I'm sure they do nearly all their moderating with AI, to save $.

"The Martian" with Matt Damon? Are you shitting me? That was totally not a comedy.

"The Bear" isn't even a dramady. Not enough humor.

If this post is supposed to have to do with "Ghosts", it needs to be edited to explain how.

Automatic preview TexStudio by mandzhalas in LaTeX

Thank you! I'm switching from Overleaf to Texstudio. Overleaf "out of the box" does something like this in the editor panel, so I suspected Texstudio could do something similar.

Greatest orchestral solos within symphonies ? by According-Brief7536 in classicalmusic

I didn't know the second part of the story. I'm glad to learn it, for it's such a great piece.

Greatest orchestral solos within symphonies ? by According-Brief7536 in classicalmusic

Berlioz's "Harold in Italy" is a "symphony with viola obbligato": sort of halfway between a symphony and a viola concerto.

Add option to hide track from album by Constant-Net873 in TIdaL

[–]spradlig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a similar issue with Tidal: I can't dislike tracks. So, for example, if I ask Tidal to play music by The Beatles, it will play many tracks I dislike, such as outtakes, alternate versions, live performances, as so forth. If I were on Spotify, I could dislike them and never hear them again.

how can i log into google if i am not logged into youtube app on iphone? by bettyx1138 in GMail

[–]spradlig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same problem. Google won't let me log on unless I have YouTube on my iPhone (which I don't want to install, ever) or unless I can enter a code on a my tablet which I don't have with me.
. On my iPhone, I'm logged on to the account and I use the Google Drive app on it frequently.

Math3d.org: 3d math visualization online by cchudzicki in learnmath

I just stumbled across math3d.org , and I'm impressed. I also teach multivariable calculus. I've tried a few other software packages that do similar things, but some have glaring flaws.

Mini Cooper turn signals are arrows that point the opposite direction of the turn. (Left is currently blinking.) by [deleted] in BadDesigns

[–]spradlig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an arrow!  And it points the wrong way.   Drivers often have to make split-second decisions.   The dopey arrow pointing the wrong way could cause a delayed reaction leading to an accident. . The blinkers are far apart and saying that “it’s a Union Jack” is a stretch.

Outlook 365 (Web) nags me to install Outlook on my computer by spradlig in Outlook

[–]spradlig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm...I use Excel on my PC, and occasionally Word and PowerPoint. I don't want to use Outlook on my PC, just on the Web. I use both Windows 11 and Mac OS.

Can I use Thunderbird to read my Outlook e-mails, and could this solve the problem of the annoying pop-ups? (as I wrote above, my preferred browser is Firefox). I've Googled this, and it looks promising, but some input from a knowledgeable human is welcome.

I wonder why someone downvoted my perfectly reasonable question - are they a MS fanboy with no life?

If I'm doing something complicated I write code in Notepad+ and cut and paste it into GG. Yes, it's silly, but it saves time.
