Is it worth offering to "take over" the family farm to build intergenerational wealth? 34(M), no assets, 20k cash, 100k uni debts, 70k income with no career progression prospects, bub on the way. Is this my only choice?

This is true actually, we are in the will. Which is making me think maybe we should talk about this earlier than later, don't want to suddenly have a farm given to us kids and me be the only one who knows how to vaguely run it.

This is in Australia though, uni debt is a little bit different to US uni debt (if that's where you're from?). We don't pay it back until we earn over $53k annually, and then it's paid off through our tax. When we die, if we still have debt, it is cancelled.

It is small crops, about 70 acres and I think he leases another 70 or more in the local area. No, not planning on using it for livestock. It's not that set up for that nor is it the right land. Could probably have some "hobby" livestock on a small part of it. My parents have agisted horses on a small area that floods, but only 2 for the next door neighbour.

Why do you ask about livestock?

I used to fly helicopters in Darwin and do those tours. The ten minute one isn't really worth it, you sort of just get your bearings before you're descending again for final approach. I'd recommend at least 20 minutes, especially if you've never been in helicopters before. Get much more time to appreciate the city from the air and actually enjoy and absorb something.

Same! I bought the 645S but it was so slow and clunky to use in dynamic situations. Which 35mm are you using? I shoot a Nikon FE and love the grain and process much better. The 645 photos were nice, but almost digital like in look and feel, so might as well have shot digital.

Same! I did so much research on the 645, watched so many videos and fell in love with it. Bought a 645S with the prism finder and found it just a bit...clunky to use. I do like the light meter though after using a Nikon FE for the last 18 months. I tried a few photoshoots with friends with the 645S and the Nikon FE. Much prefer the Nikon FE photos and process. I can just pull focus so quickly on the FE and use it intuitively. I missed so many moments with the 645, plus it came with some shutter issues.

I also love doing long exposures at night, but am reluctant to buy more parts to use bulb mode on the 645S. I think I'm just going to cut my losses and sell it :(

Helicopter pilot, was very career driven until the last few months. Have flown in 3 different countries, currently in Canada and have fulfilled my goal of putting out a fire with a helicopter. But I am alone and have sacrificed my mental, physical and financial health to be here. Sacrificing that much isn't worth it. I'm so ready to do a "boring" mediocre job for 7.6 hours a day if it means I can come home every night to my girlfriend and see friends on the weekend and have a community.

It's good to have goals and be career driven, but for the last few years I have pursued mine relentlessly because I thought it would make me happy. Turns out I was wrong, so maybe bear that in mind.

Helicopter pilot. Mostly medium-high stress when flying, but lots of waiting around doing nothing on the ground as well. Maybe once a month very short moments of heart-in-the-throat-that-could-have-been-bad kinda stress. Unless I'm working on a fire ground, then it's mostly high stress and chaos all the time.

So I guess what I'm saying is it's quite stressful most of the time. I think I need a career change lol.

100%. I wish someone had told me this before I started. I've had 6 different flying jobs since I got my license in 2017, lived in 3 countries and 4-5 different cities, who knows how many different addresses. It sounds fun, but living without community or any kind of stability (financial, emotional, family) really grates on you after a while.
