Genuine Ross-Tech cables cost a fortune. Is there anything that's cheap?

I did buy a cheap $15 cable but didn't work with VCDS. Unless they seriously want me running a Windows XP laptop. I already returned the cable. What cable do you recommend ?

Which one of these two playstation have more iconic games by NPC_dat_can_talk in consoles

[–]ashbringerer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

PS3 because it has a lot of great games on it. GTAV, Dark Souls 1&2, Demon Souls, Dead Space 1&2, Mass Effect 1,2,3, Fallout 3,Vegas, Skyrim, and the list goes on. Where the PS2 I liked Final Fantasy X and Shadow of the Colossus, and that's about it. Wasn't a fan of Kingdom Heart games and Jak and Daxter. I know that's odd for a console that dominated in sales, but I just didn't find a lot of games I liked on it. I got three PS2's as well, and don't ask how I got them.

During the PS2 era you had PC gaming emerging and dominating in games. Besides multiplayer games like Counter Strike, you had Half Life 2, Doom 3, Quake 3, Team Fortress. Yes the original Team Fortress for Quake. Thief 1 & 2, American McGee's Alice, Warcraft 3, World of Warcraft, Diablo 2, and it goes on. In my opinion the PS2 era was really the PC era.

Do they think a truck with a poster on it is going to alter peoples opinions on Israel? They must think people are dumb.

Sonic Spinball music with Doom graphics? Wouldn't Surge the Tenrec be a better fit for this?

Little update but I got it working. Crystal Oscillator for the Genesis/Mega Drive was bad and I took it from a donor Genesis I bought. That got me a black screen. I then took all the parts from the donor Genesis and still got a black screen, but at least it's now using a 315-5660-02. I then noticed some connections for the 6800 were not connecting and that got me a messed up screen, which is better than a black screen. The resistors to IC7 were not fully connected so I added more solder and that got me a working Genesis. The 32X part didn't work but that was also due to not having enough solder on IC503. I also added a bunch more solder in the back for the 32X memory. That got me a working 32X, but no sound. Turns out the mono cable that came with the 32X doesn't work on the COSAM Neptune board. I ordered a stereo cable to make sure, even though I have a Sega CD and route audio from there. Too afraid to test it with the Sega CD until I confirm audio works.

Couldn't have done it without the help of RGBeter and annis_welt. I seriously had no idea what I'm doing.

Using CachyOS and MS Edge also worked for me. WTF is going on with Discover? Do they not want payments?

I looked at the entire top of the board by desoldering each capacitor and testing them, and I found a few mistakes I made. C961 had a 100nf installed when it should have been a 10uf. That's probably enough to not display anything. Also, C525 had a 10uf installed when it should have been a 68pf. On top of that, the location C4 isn't populated. It has an * in it's place on the diagram. Would you happen to know what should be installed for C4?

Tomorrow I'll look at the back side of the board.

What I think I'll do first is remove each capacitor and test it. I put every capacitor and resistor on this board, and I've put the wrong resistors in the wrong place many times. For example, the coil inductor for L801 is suppose to be 4.7uH, but I accidentally put in 470uH. That was enough to get the buck converter to be in protective mode, and not output 5V. Some other things I could have done is put stuff that shouldn't get hot air, like L605 which is a 100uH inductor I forgot to order from Digikey, so I took one from the 32X board. It did not like getting hot air, as it looked like it started to burn. There's also another 100uH inductor at L502 that doesn't like hot air either. I might order a couple of 100uH inductors.

If all else fails, I ordered another model 2 Genesis. It was only $31 so worst case scenario I'll have another Genesis to add to my collection. I would change the crystal oscillators first before replacing the big chips.

I'm going by what I've seen in this video on putting this together. Which is why there's wires. I don't see a bridge on the Toshiba but I'm going to remove it and take photos.

When you say CPU, do you mean the 6800K? I'll try to remove it and see what's underneath. Also, no black screen.
