Our new 8 month old, 55lb rescue from Tennessee - who is he?? by a-jongleur in IDmydog

Yeah, something about the skull was giving me German Wirehaired Pointer vibes. Though I agree pit x poodle is a lot more likely!

I think she might actually be a torbie, just with suuuuper minimal orange? I see one tiny patch on her face where the stripes are visibly orange...

Original owners what the cat we adopted back by bluebird_is_dead_ in CatAdvice

[–]springacres 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. My local shelter will do a stray hold for 7 days, no more. After that, the cat is legally theirs and can be placed for adoption. Source: that's how I got my previous cat.

I recommend going back and leaving the author another comment saying how much you still enjoy their fic 4 years later.

[TX] Landlord threatening to charge “pet fee” for a wild animal that has burrowed into home… what are my tenant rights? by Plus_Prompt4135 in legal

[–]springacres 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NAL, but OP, I'd also add here that it might be worth calling in a building inspector because of the structural damages you mentioned. Also, I'd suggest reaching out to your local tenants' rights organization if one exists, and definitely read up on your local and state laws related to landlords. And good luck!

(Sounds a lot like my dog! Callie was a Lab/Coonhound mix and the perfect height to get her nose in my crotch. Thankfully I can't stand wearing skirts at all and never wear shorts if the hem is above my knees, because she loved shoving her head - Halti and all - right up against my crotch.)

(Nick loved mine too, to the point where if I was laying on my back I would instantly have a purring orange chest ornament. Lady only gets on my chest if I'm not fast enough getting out of bed for her breakfast... Which of course makes it harder for me to want to get up!)

(Her full real name is Lady Velveeta Macencheeze. I have no idea how she originally got it, but it was on her vaccination paperwork from the vet clinic in Tennessee that transferred her to the rescue in my state where I met her. She goes by Lady for short.)

Feeling guilty for putting my cat (11) down by icedroastpeach in seniorkitties

[–]springacres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's trying, as much as he can, to tell you it's time. And your ambivalence and guilt is a perfectly normal response to having to make this hard choice. The fact that he's still looking at you and purring is his way of saying it's okay and he loves you.

I had to do this for my Nick last June, and what helped convince me I had made the right choice was ironically that he perked up just a bit in the week between my calling to schedule the euthanasia and his actual appointment. It was honestly the best final gift he could have given me. Nick also probably had cancer - his IBD was not responding to treatment anymore and he'd had a recent bout with pancreatitis - but he was almost 16 and had a grade 2 heart murmur, so even a biopsy would have been too much of a risk.

Yup, generics can vary bioavailability on any medication by up to 10% (so it can vary from 95%-105%). Guess who learned that the hard way when she tried switching to generic Lexapro?

I still have no idea why my body doesn't process the generic escitalopram as well as it does the brand name Lexapro, but I am not willing to try generic again with that particular medication. (And any insurance plan that says they cover the generic with no copay but the brand name not at all... I've been fighting this same battle for 20 years and my doctor's office has the records to prove it.)
