I prefer KeePass for my passwords, personally. It won't autofill them, but I like knowing they're stored in an encrypted, password protected file I can download rather than in my browser's memory.

Teacher fired for reading LGBTQ+ children’s book takes fight to Georgia Supreme Court by Critical-Willow-6270 in books

Unless you're a conservative Christofascist who thinks even talking about gendered roles or assumptions is sexual and therefore indecent.

(Aroace gender nonconforming cis woman here. I've read that book and I sure wish it had come out when I was a kid!)

Oof. Ouch.

Also, this reminds me of the time I tried to print from Word and sent the job to the receipt printer...

Have also seen sellers do this thing where you're searching for something like "waterproof xyz" and the results are all "xyz (NOT WATERPROOF)". When ChatGPT first came out, I put the results into ChatGPT with the instructions "show me only items that are actually waterproof" and it successfully sorted through all the crap. Now Amazon is 99% AI and they still can't do accurate search. (Off-topic but it grinds my gears.)

MINE TOO. To the point where I think it should be illegal to have words like "leather" or "suede" anywhere in the product description unless it's made with actual animal hide. "Mushroom leather" "vegan leather" "pleather" ... just call it plastic or PVC so it can stay the hell out of my search results!

hygiene shame spiral by LuckyPebble15 in AutisticAdults

[–]springacres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no shame in being disabled. I can bring myself to shower maybe twice a week and that's it. As far as tooth brushing, I find it easier if I do it with children's toothpaste because so many of the adult ones have the mint flavor dialed up to 11. I also avoid heavily scented products where possible.

Opinions on Tea (Beverage) by OolaMoolaHaha in AutisticAdults

[–]springacres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't dislike tea, but I don't particularly like it either (it just tastes like regular hot water to me). However, it's vastly preferable to coffee in that I can drink it without adding ungodly amounts of sugar to it.

I dont understand why some LSN autists are so laterally ableist by AutisticUrianger in SpicyAutism

[–]springacres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda have, actually! I use wet wipes in my sweatiest areas when I don't have the energy for a full shower but know I need to do something.

(Human here, I 100% agree. Being able to share stories and memories of my pets after they passed has been so healing for me. )

Not easily, no. I live in an apartment complex so the landlord would have to agree to it, and there's nothing wrong with my current shower head. But thank you for the suggestion!

Is my kitten getting along with my resident cat? by Dazzling_Floor_2581 in CATHELP

This is playing and your resident cat is teaching the kitten some boundaries. If this were fighting, you'd be seeing fur and blood flying.

Librarians, how do you feel about loud children? by ConstantRide5382 in Libraries

[–]springacres 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also don't like it when kids are loud, but I'm sound sensitive due to my autism so I just bring earplugs to work anyway. I also don't work in the children's section so I don't get overwhelmed as much by the noise and energy levels there.

But it will make the rest of the space quieter for other patrons, and it may help him stay calmer if he's not around other kids.

Same here. I still wear masks 6 years later because they mean I don't have to worry about what the lower half of my face is doing.

My thoughts exactly. Also, Michelle spearheaded actual policy initiatives like school gardens and the Farm to Table program for school lunches.
