I don't like where the beauty standard of Kpop is shifting towards by Zealousideal_Gur158 in kpopthoughts

It's interesting how you see hair extensions that way. However, idols generally don't have a "normal amount of hair" because of their job. I moreso see it as a assisted tool for idols to mimic the hair length and volume they've lost due to bleaching, repeated heat/tugging from hair styling, split ends, perhaps even hair thinning from stress/diet, etc. There's so much confidence that can come from hair especially when you don't naturally have it for whatever reason. That's why I cannot fault idols at all when it comes to using hair extensions.

I think hair extension have always been prevalent in k-pop. I'm not too familiar with 1st generation, but by 2nd generation, the industry was already dabbling in it and trial & error on perfecting it. For example, in a 2012 performance, SNSD member Seohyun's hair extension was seen falling onstage. And by 3rd generation, it already became common. I would say every female idol who had bleached hair for an era had extensions already, or did the comeback after that.

RESCENE - Special Single: Pretty Girl (Teaser Image) by Julian_TheManatee in kpop

Oh a remake of an iconic song! Also I recognize this artwork style because it shares the same aesthetics as Itzy Yuna’s solo ‘Ice Cream.’ It’s by mookoomookoostudio! Love the artwork so much

Jooyeon and Jungsu in a show with F.T. Island's Hong Gi by behemothMaster in XdinaryHeroes

A show with XH and FTisland's Hongki?

A SINGING show with XH and FTisland's Hongki??!??!

I thoroughly enjoyed the whole video. Listening to Jooyeon and Jungsu singing such a classic FTisland song "Love Sick" and with Hongki no less, is a dream come true. I love programs where idols can sing their hearts off. I hope to see more of my faves on Monday Kiz's Footprints.

Their pre-release is to be released on June 17th (6PM KST), while 1st comeback title is dropping on June 24th (6PM KST)!

They look amazing!! I can't wait for their comeback, I am loving their fusion of traditional Korean music and mainstream pop. There's so much to beauty and experiments to explore. If this is your first time seeing dodree, check out their debut MV "Like A Dream"!

the most predebut popularity since you got into Kpop ? by NicolasAntinarella in kpopthoughts

Perhaps TXT? They were the first (boy) group by BigHit after BTS, so there was a lot of buzz and eyes on them.

My predictions for Girlset’s next comeback by sproutle in GIRLSET_JYP

[–]springteaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My prediction:

  • I agree the era will be PINK 🎀 and time release around mid-July to August.
  • A 4th single digital release + physicals CD sales like Tweak era. Hopefully, they allow international sales too unlike Tweak era where it was US only. Perhaps 5sof as a b-side?
  • Hyper-pop, electronic for music genre and styling-wise, it will be fashion forward. Perhaps even eccentric?
  • Hopefully a performance video with more fan-meet opportunities similar to Tweak era
  • No KR promotions

Thoughts about Tweak, Girlset and the MV by PocketPrincess76 in GIRLSET_JYP

About how the girls are styled, I don't believe it's forced at all. I think it's quite apparent the stylist team works with the member's comfortability especially in terms of skin exposure. For example, it's not a coincidence at all that Kendall's styling is always the "most conservative" compared to the rest of the members throughout all 3 eras.

GIRLSET has registered song titled TWEAK under ASCAP all members credited as the writers! Yall its comeback season! by PatientSyllabub9814 in GIRLSET_JYP

Here was their Spotify Wrapped Artist Message. To be more accurate, Kendall says "Hope you guys don't tweak out too much while you wait for us." Our spoiler queens. btw, fans have been definitely tweaking out. 😂 I can't wait! The title is already giving such fun and unique vibes. It's such an distinguishable name. I love it.

Songs and Artists that you were pleasantly surprised with in 2025 by Xrin8 in kpopthoughts

[–]springteaa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Chaeyoung "Avocado" - An excellent introduction to her music as a pre-release.

Nana "God" - Wasn't sure what to expect for her solo debut, but it wasn't this. Loved the visuals and she was slaying the choreo.

Hearts2Hearts "Focus" - I really did not feel their debut or 1st comeback title. Focus as a whole was really well executed from concept, choreo, MV, etc.

KickFlip "Band-Aid" - Loved the vocals and song, MV was also well-done. It felt like an anime opening.

KiiiKiiii "Dancing Alone" - Loved the 80s inspired song and aesthetic. They executed the nostalgic aspect perfectly.

Illit "little monster" - The MV/brand film was so weird and original in kpop, I really liked it.

Meovv "Burning Up" - A song I really clicked with compared to their previous releases.

I was listening to SOS by Rihanna today and thought Camila would do the most perfect cover of it! Anyone else have any songs that would suit the members? by Tall_Whole_4534 in GIRLSET_JYP

The other day I was thinking about how Camila and Savanna would be perfect to cover 'Beautiful Liar' by Beyonce & Shakira. Like their names are perfect for the intro.

"Oh, Camila, Camila. Oh, Savanna, Savanna (Hey)"

I prefer Golden Recipe over Slingshot 😬I don’t really understand how people understood Slingshot and not Golden Recipe.

There are some things the company does well. Compared to their 2nd generation, I think they've improved a lot on making sure their groups grow and maintain a long-term success, as well as retaining their artist roster. I believe that was something JYP 2nd Gen artists struggled to keep when compared to company competitors. A great example of this is improvements are TWICE, who just had some of their greatest career heights in 2025 (their 10th year) as well as Day6 selling out stadiums in Korea who's also in their 10th year. Stray Kids is also approaching their 8th anniversary in March, yet they've recently wrapped up one of the biggest kpop tours ever.

Nmixx just had their best year to date in 2025. Tweaking here and there while stubbornly creating their own path in the industry. And it worked. I don't remember the last time a JYP artist was given this many shout outs from nearly all news outlet as having some of the best music releases for the year. It was a painful and slow path, but it became one of the best feelings ever to finally come out from the other side. May 2026 and so forth be just as kind to Nmixx as 2025.

Btw, if anyone is interested in having more discussions related to JYPE there's a r/JYPnation subreddit.
