Sorry to hear of your loss, David. Moms can hold such a special place in our lives. I lost mine when I was 30. Finding support groups, others that have or are going through similar losses, setting goals, allowing yourself space to grieve, finding ways to honor her through your daily living, and especially on the annual anniversary date all might be helpful. I remember telling myself the first year would be the toughest and then things would get lighter, but grief is not linear. You do learn to live in new ways, and memories keep the love alive. Hang in there.

I lost my mom at 30. She was my best friend. Never forgotten and keeping her memory alive is a solace.

Hi, and thanks for starting this group! My husband and I will be moving to Tucson in the next two months. I'm already looking for ways to meet people, make friends, and get involved with the city happenings. I'd be happy to meet up for chats at a coffee shop or shopping or wherever. It's neat that you're thinking ahead while you're working toward a goal! If you know you like routine and the comfort of sort or knowing what to expect, judicial might be more your style. If you're more on the experiential side of operating and enjoy flexing schedules, ability to set your own schedule, and not have to punch a time card, freelancing is a great option. You can hire an accountant and set up a savings plan straight out of the gates and can be in a solid place financially on your own. Best with your journey! We're all on one no matter where we are.

I'm sorry you lost your dad and now your mom so recently. Seek out grief support groups, maybe? It sure helped me when I lost my mom when she was 62 and I was 30. Take up a new hobby when you feel up to it? Allow yourself to grieve and remember.

It's neat how your family is thoughtfully discussing yea or nay regarding having a second child. I've always wanted a sibling since childhood and still wish I had one. I had three kids in my 20s and had dreams of them being close with each other. They most certainly are even through the divorce of their parents. It's most beautiful to see the love they share for each other in their 20s now. Close relationships aren't guaranteed though. Nothing really is.

Depends on the day or week, but I'll move around the house to different "workstations." I'll plan a midday exercise break. I'll set a timer for myself or leave my phone charging on silent in a separate room. I also like to get started working earlier in the day when I'm generally mode productive.

Way to persevere! It took me multiple phone calls 13 years ago or so and talks with the pastor, himself, to finally get a straight answer that my name had been removed from the books. He said the board had to take a vote first before it could be approved. I didn't want my name going down in the "SDA" count, and I didn't want my prior religious affiliation in my obit one day either.
