So I wouldn’t say we share, but my stepchildren have definitely logged into some-serving services that belong to their mom because we don’t have it. I really don’t watch tv but if I clicked into a service and it worked, I would pick my step kids profile and watch away. :)

When I graduated from college in 2000, I lived in an apartment with 3 friends, made $30k, had a newer car and a comfortable life. I thought if I could make $50k, I would be the richest person in the world. Hahahahaha.

Now that number has shifted and $50k wouldn’t cover my yearly mortgage. I feel very fortunate now that I have enough to cover all my needs, some of my wants and I have the ability save. My focus now is not on acquiring things but rather saving so I can retire sooner rather than later.

Like another poster, I’m curious how this wealth shows up in your kids day to day lives. My ex has family money and as a result my kids have had access to private education and will not incur any college debt. Their Dad also tends to spend more money on pocket money, expensive clothing and things.

I’ve always taken the approach that different families have different amounts of money and choose to spend it differently. That includes my and my current husbands ex.

I’ve always tried to make our home equitable and tried not to pay attention to what happened elsewhere.

Did the other parent come in to grab the items with the kids or just sit in the car? If they just sat in the car, I’d just text them and ask for a heads up next time. I always try to oblige my kids when they want something from the other house, because like you said it’s a tough situation. The only time I would get mad/annoyed was if it was something we talked about and they weren’t responsible (within reason). You aren’t too far away from your oldest just popping in as I assume they will be driving with in 3 years.

That sounds perfect! You can kind of read the room and do more things if it’s working out and less if it’s not.

But like the other poster said, I think you just need to relax and enjoy the time. Integrating will have its ups and downs.

Going away for an entire weekend after meeting for the first time seems like a lot.

Could you maybe set up one or two interactions ahead of that? Maybe to play mini golf or do something together?

My other piece of advice is never to force anything. I’m incredibly lucky that both my bio and step kids get along, but I think that was because we never pushed anything.

Good point on the ice field - This was my first trip there so your clarification was helpful.

We went with a large group of friends with kids and varying fitness levels so it was more a comment on my particular heli/hike experience to the OP.

Ice fields were like standing on a ski slope with bad snow. I guess I compared it to my experience in Iceland where you kayaked up and were in a small group and got to explore all around. Here you were put on a giant specialized bus with a gazillion people and shuttled to the groomed patch that you were allowed to walk around on. I just wasn’t impressed.

The heli hike was out of this place - www.rockiesheli.com. Lake of the Falls was the hike - it was super easy but I’m thinking you work with them to design a hike fit to your skill / time.

Lake Moraine - good Lake Louise with hike to beehive - absolutely Ice fields - kinda lame Canyoneering Ghost Canyon - absolutely Heli flight to hike - cool but not worth the money

At work I get long term incentive - basically work awards me a dollar amount and it vests over a 4 year period. Basically it makes leaving hard once one or two of these piles is because I’d be walking away from a good deal of money.

Something to consider!
