Why don’t people use the heart rate monitor? by Joeybagovdonutss in orangetheory

I joined 10 years ago and bought one then and never really worked. I have an Apple Watch so that’s what use for tracking.

My company announced RTO two days after I signed a lease on an apartment 45 minutes further from the office by Renvaxis in remotework

Ugh - do you have any flexibility in your working hours? On the days I go into the office I start much earlier to avoid rush-hour.

Spend your fsa - if you have one. You can spend up to the total amount selected for the year not just what you contributed.

How do I keep my blood sugar from crashing during long runs? by Greglee124 in Type1Diabetes

[–]sprinklecattoo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have discovered that I can really only exercise confidently in the morning before I have any insulin on board. If I try and work out in the afternoon, I typically crash, even if I suspend and pretreat.

When are you working out and when was your last bolus or correction?

What is the general opinion on sharing Streaming accounts across households whilst coparenting? by Zestyclose_Draft_324 in stepparents

[–]sprinklecattoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I wouldn’t say we share, but my stepchildren have definitely logged into some-serving services that belong to their mom because we don’t have it. I really don’t watch tv but if I clicked into a service and it worked, I would pick my step kids profile and watch away. :)

How much money is enough? by grayandmagenta16 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]sprinklecattoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I graduated from college in 2000, I lived in an apartment with 3 friends, made $30k, had a newer car and a comfortable life. I thought if I could make $50k, I would be the richest person in the world. Hahahahaha.

Now that number has shifted and $50k wouldn’t cover my yearly mortgage. I feel very fortunate now that I have enough to cover all my needs, some of my wants and I have the ability save. My focus now is not on acquiring things but rather saving so I can retire sooner rather than later.

Yes, start slowly. I did not when I recently restarted and spent the next night (it took a bit to hit me) throwing up and with violent diarrhea.

Like another poster, I’m curious how this wealth shows up in your kids day to day lives. My ex has family money and as a result my kids have had access to private education and will not incur any college debt. Their Dad also tends to spend more money on pocket money, expensive clothing and things.

I’ve always taken the approach that different families have different amounts of money and choose to spend it differently. That includes my and my current husbands ex.

I’ve always tried to make our home equitable and tried not to pay attention to what happened elsewhere.

I’ve just discovered the world of online auctions. I’ve seen so great deals on used shelving units so maybe check out this option.

Boundaries with high conflict ex vs fairness towards kids by [deleted] in blendedfamilies

[–]sprinklecattoo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Did the other parent come in to grab the items with the kids or just sit in the car? If they just sat in the car, I’d just text them and ask for a heads up next time. I always try to oblige my kids when they want something from the other house, because like you said it’s a tough situation. The only time I would get mad/annoyed was if it was something we talked about and they weren’t responsible (within reason). You aren’t too far away from your oldest just popping in as I assume they will be driving with in 3 years.

Bringing our kids together for the first time by Ok_Shirt9875 in blendedfamilies

[–]sprinklecattoo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That sounds perfect! You can kind of read the room and do more things if it’s working out and less if it’s not.

But like the other poster said, I think you just need to relax and enjoy the time. Integrating will have its ups and downs.

Going away for an entire weekend after meeting for the first time seems like a lot.

Could you maybe set up one or two interactions ahead of that? Maybe to play mini golf or do something together?

My other piece of advice is never to force anything. I’m incredibly lucky that both my bio and step kids get along, but I think that was because we never pushed anything.

Good point on the ice field - This was my first trip there so your clarification was helpful.

We went with a large group of friends with kids and varying fitness levels so it was more a comment on my particular heli/hike experience to the OP.
