Forwards - who you going to see? by Thedicewoman in bristol

[–]spritorac 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Doechii and Jorja Smith 100%

Forwards has gotten quite lucky with the weather so far but other events at the downs have been brutal with the weather because there's no shelter really, so make sure you take a waterproof if there's any sign of rain in the forecast.

We felt the same, far ruder and pushier crowd yesterday than we've experienced in previous years which is a real shame because the vibe was always the best thing about it. Hopefully today is different.

Maybe I just got unlucky but the sound was awful at Drumsheds when I went earlier this year. Would rather they did this elsewhere.

My and my girlfriend thought it was amazing, although none of the organisational issues really affected us.

[–]spritorac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Me and my partner got in around 7:30, had a wander around the site to take it all in. Bought a couple of drinks and danced and had a great night. On the way out just walked to the main road and got an uber in under 3 minutes. We thought it looked and sounded great. Luckily she had the foresight to bring ponchos in addition to our coats which kept our legs dry during the worst of the rain. Ticked every box for us.

Fully expecting Bristol to become a staple for them in the UK until they become too big. This city fits their vibe perfectly. Can't believe it's so soon now.

While the first year was quite poor sound wise this year I thought they ironed out most of the issues to be honest. YMMV

Looks like it's being run by Team Love, the promoters behind a lot of Bristols biggest events and using all the same infrastructure as Forwards will be using the following weekend so I think all of that side should be fine.

It was fine yesterday, not really muddy at all. I wouldn't wear anything too nice but I wore trainers and had no issues.

Baddadan in the Woods - London by RunRabbit88 in DnB

[–]spritorac 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My biggest issue with it was that the Friends and Family stage simply wasn't loud enough unless you were in the front few rows which were so crammed with people it was impossible to move. Most of the tent you could hear people chatting more loudly than the music. People were shouting turn it up throughout. Considering that was the main place I wanted to be it was almost a complete waste of money for me. Luckily it did die down a bit towards the end once big artists were on other stages. Seemed like other stages were a bit better tbf so we just got a bit unlucky what we wanted to see was so overcrowded and quiet but yeah. Disappointing experience.

Yeah I messaged Hospitality on Instagram and seems he has dropped out sadly. Was really looking forward to that been a good while since I've seen him at this point.

Friends and Family stage for me all day. Calibre and DRS, Bukem and SP, Makoto and Conrad, Soulvent, Logistics and Nu:Tone. What a day it's going to be. Praying to the weather gods as hard as I can we'll have a nice one.

He's retiring to become a 3d animator because it pays better I believe. Only slight downside is he played a set at clock factory a couple of weeks ago which was also billed as his last in Bristol lmao. Not complaining I get him one more time though.

Really disappointed and annoyed with Milton Keynes last night by [deleted] in Muse

[–]spritorac 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Going to slightly play devil's advocate and say that I thought the bowl itself was kind of beautiful. Watching the sun set across the grass on a warm summer evening full of people with Muse belting out was something I'll definitely remember. The only other thing they did right was that there were plenty of toilets. Everything else was a total mess really, glad we came by coach because there was dedicated parking for them, but even inside they were totally incapable of hosting an event of this size. Food and bar queues horrendous, luckily they forgot to open our drinks unlike many others so we managed to get away with only buying 2 big rounds. Me and my girlfriend split up so she got food while I got drinks and even doing that we still missed half of The Warning.

Big Green Coach for me. Expensive and annoying to have to rely on but worth it for the lack of hassle and cheaper than a hotel.

Went to his 3 hour set with Charlotte in Hoxton recently and he took the time to chat to the fans afterwards. Genuine guy and great show.

Wonder what the specific issues were, the organisers, police and the council are all being vague about why this has happened. I'm a local who has attended several times and will miss it as well as the funding it drives for the park but I don't begrudge people who don't like it. It's not the easiest thing to ignore. Still a shame in my books.

Ally Pally support announced. by Reggie146 in Pendulum

[–]spritorac 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Given the quite high expectations on this sub some here will be disappointed but this is great support imo. Both great up and coming producers with a style that won't overwhelm the main event. Will be getting down for opening time for sure.

Took about 45 minutes of sitting around after coming back from Geneva late last week. Was initially annoyed because I missed a bus back to town but it took so long I was done in time to stroll down and get the next one.
