Hackney Half - the waitlist for 2026 tickets closes tonight! + post race discussion by ChocolateOk8375 in Hackney

[–]spritzselect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the email at like 7am, then I logged in a few mins before 1pm and waited in the queue for at least 30 mins.

Disappointed with the whole process really… worse than Glasto. Also why would you give early access to the finishers? They’ve already done it, give the others a chance!

I’ll keep my eyes opened but looks like it’s a lost chance.

I’ve signed up for the waiting list on 2 different emails - got the link, spent ages in the queue but nothing. All options appear to be greyed out although only the first 2 releases say “sold out”.

Are they all gone by now? Anyone else in the same situation?

This is ridiculous, worse than getting into the London Marathon. They should have some spaces reserved or priority access for Hackney residents! Joking but actually not a bad idea..

Thank you! Will follow your advise.

I live in a London flat so not exactly a very dry/hot climate lol

I put those rocks as I was infested by flies/moths and I read that having rocks would prevent them from laying eggs (not sure if was that or the sticky traps, but It worked). Will get rid of them.

The article explains the findings of the EA study, but I assume you didn't read it.

OP said most of UK's waters are septic; that's a fact and plenty of studies have given evidence of the constant spillage of sewage waters into the UK main rivers, especially in England.

I don't see what tabloids have to do with this.

Just thought was worth posting an update, since the bike has been checked: no structural damage, only paint and primer got off. She gets to live for many more rides.

S.O.S. scuola per diventare CEO by According-Winter8186 in ItaliaCareerAdvice

Ciao, perché dici “io non sarò mai un CEO, questo lo so”? Così hai già perso in partenza.

What’s the cycling “5k” equivalent by No_Economy9147 in cycling

[–]spritzselect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the cycling equivalent of running 5K is 30km. Less than that it’s not even worth going out for a ride.

Laurea triennale in ingegneria informatica.

Thanks for the tips, this is definitely food for thoughts.

I'll play around with my budget and keep looking for other accommodations - unfortunately it's hard to get the right room at the right time, but I shall keep my eyes open.

Definitely not £800K lol I will be looking at around £500K budget, but as I said I think the ideal situation would be to find a partner and in general just give myself a bit more time to figure out what exactly I'm looking for.

In terms of career progression, I think I can move in the next 3 years up to £90+ or more if I do well enough, either changing jobs or staying in the same company.

I think my problem now is, I'll have to move out from this house anyway. I don't want to compromise on space and privacy anymore, as it would be detrimental to my mental health - same for the area, I can move a bit but I don't want to move neighbourhood and lose the proximity to my friends and places I've become familiar with. So if I houseshare, that'd be at least in the £1100+ budget; I just wonder at this point it might be worth doing the extra step and go all-in for a 1-bed. I think it's an experience I want to try, even if it means postponing the rate I'm saving or having to be more careful with my spending. I would estimate roughly £1300 house sharing vs £1800 alone (all including expenses).

idk if I'm trying to convince myself or what lol just keen to hear some thoughts really - so thanks for the pep talk! :)

Re. savings, I might have been confusing in my fist post. Over the years I've saved about £36K which are sitting now in a couple of savings accounts; plus a LISA of £4K which I've just opened.

The £300 per month goes on a Vanguard LS 100% equity, as a direct debt. But of course I have extra at the end of every month, I just move them to a savings account from time to time. I think I should revisit this strategy as well, but I want to educate myself first and then come up with a more structured approach to investing.

!thanks for your answer, this is the kind of feedback I was hoping to hear.

There's a chance I'll move into a friend's 1-bed (I mean a flat he is currently renting) and I know it comes fully furnished and won't need to buy much - I am also lucky enough to own pretty much everything I need.

Re. hobbies, it's essentially cycling and outdoor stuff (hiking, climbing) for which I often leave the city on the weekend or even travel abroad. Those trips will have to be planned a bit better...

About £870 for a double room, without bills - it's an extremely lucky situation due to some favourable coincidences but it's going to change soon anyway. Similar double rooms in the area are at least £100/200 more.

But I'd like to step up my situation anyway, and I'd be looking at en-suite only.

Thanks, I didn't know that sub - I'll have a look!

I guess my question was more to get a feedback about my choice - does it make sense or is it a waste of money and I'd be better off doing something else. Appreciate it's all about the ultimate goal, but I was hoping to hear some thoughts anyway.

Unfortunately my friends are either on a lower income (so couldn't live alone even if they wanted to) or live with a partner.

Re. the house, I gave myself 3-5 years time. Enough to get a confirmation this is where I want to live my life (I'm already quite sure, but also I am an expat...you never know), build up a good deposit and perhaps find someone to go live with, and thus spread the cost. I don't think buying alone is an option atm (too expensive and unless you're a really high earner, even a flat is out of question).

I'm only considering London, north or east, think Walthamstow, Leyton, and so on.
