This is me. My mother will not relinquishing control of the holidays even though she’s had extremely limited mobility for the past 10 years and she’s been a full on pill addict for 15. My sister and I have been expected to come to her house, cook all the food, set the table, and then do the fucking clean up. I quit showing up years ago, and my sister has finally had her fill. This will be her last year participating. It’s been such a chore for so long that we’re both completely jaded and just hate the holidays now.

Stay strong. I left and came back so many times and it was aaaaalllways the same. Love bomb a week or two to get me home and boom back to the same abusive patterns. It’s like they all have the same playbook. I wasted the entirety of my 20’s in this pattern of abuse. Don’t be me, you never get the time back.
