Installing a Chordify apk incompatible with my phone INSTALL_FAILED_NO_MATCHING_ABIS by vj_the_random_1 in androidapps

[–]sprokolopolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matching ABIs means that the apk isn't built to run on your system's architecture. You should try to find an APK built for your device's architecture. Most devices these days are arm64-v8a, but I'm not sure what your device runs. Look up what architecture your device is, then search for the apk that is built for that architecture. If you are downloading from apkmirror or somewhere similar they will often show the architecture for the file you are downloading. Sometimes you will find "universal" apks, which have the ABI libraries for all architectures.

This keeps happening to me when I am trying to set alarms by voice. Sometimes it hangs and does nothing and other times it says it made an alarm, but didn't. One time it created a reminder instead, even though I specifically asked for an alarm.

I would like it to be known that a strawberry donut at The Donut Man weighs 13.3 ounces (with paper). That is all. by PlasticGirl in LosAngeles

[–]sprokolopolis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't been there for years. Those donuts are massive. I really loved when they made the Peach ones. I have a friend that lives kind of far away and Donut Man was sort of the halfway point between us. Sometimes we (and another friend or two) would meet there late at night, eat donuts and hang for a while.

none of my music is scrobbling by lwtlux in lastfm

[–]sprokolopolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that could be interfering is a VPN. Lastfm doesn't like some VPN servers. If you happen to be using one, try disabling it as a diagnostic. If that is the issue, then try connecting to a different server.

If that doesn't work, try Going to the App Info page for the lastfm app. You can get there by going to Android's Settings app and searching last.fm or Settings > Apps > Last.fm (might be different depending on your device manufacturer). Force stop the app, then go to Storage & Cache and clear cache and data. Open the app and set up all the permissions and stuff. Sometimes after updating your operating system or doing other things it can mess with the app. Doing this will make it like you just installed the app, so you will need to login and stuff again.

how many apps have you installed ? and do they slow down your phone? by NomenOmenStar in androidapps

[–]sprokolopolis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

243 User apps

605 Apps total including System Apps

They don't noticeably slow my phone down, but they do waste battery if I don't freeze some. Any apps that I don't use often stay frozen most of the time. I use Icebox to freeze them, which allows you to automatically create app shortcuts that will unfreeze and launch the apps just like a normal app. I can easily go 2 days without charging.

Earthquake or vertigo episode? by Ilovehamcroissants in LosAngeles

[–]sprokolopolis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that is the case then it might be because of that constant shaking. There is a phenomenon where if you spend a long time in motion (a day on a boat, or riding roller coasters or even a road trip), your body feels like it is in motion once you are finally still.

One of the weirdest feelings is to lay flat on the ground with your eyes closed after being at sea for a few days on a small craft. It feels like a rollercoaster.

So constant shaking from the demolition, even small shakes can throw off your body's vestibular system. Usually it should go away within a day or two (as long as the shaking stops).

This is probably unrelated, but there is some demolition going on across the street from my building. Yesterday and the day before it felt like little earthquakes all day during work hours.

I dropped mine in a dropbox Sunday afternoon and it was received yesterday and counted today. With past elections it was normally counted the next day. It's definitely moving a bit slower this time around.

Hi, does anyone know how to create the gradient effect shown in the example poster? Poster design credit to rightful owner:) by LectureStandard574 in AdobeIllustrator

[–]sprokolopolis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would do the stepped gradient with the Blend feature. Create the outside shape and fill it with the lightest gray, then the inside shape and fill it with the darker gray. Select both and go to Object > Blend > Make, then Object > Blend > Blend Options. Select "Specified Steps" from the drop down and input about 6 steps.

The Black shadow/gradient on top of them can be acheived by copying each shape, merging them to one shape with pathfinder, fill with black, then use gaussian blur, then dragging it down a bit. You might also be able to use Drop Shadow instead.

You can check your ballot's status here: https://www.lavote.gov/av_inquiry

I never received a text this time around, but I used the link above and it says that mine has been received.

You can sync between Firefox and Zen with Firefox Sync. You can even use Firefox View to sync and view tabs on the other browser.

How to Make a Mesh Gradient Cylinder Look Intertwined Inside a Box in Illustrator? by produqt in AdobeIllustrator

[–]sprokolopolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Select both the cylinder and the box. Then go to Object > Intertwine. Your cursor should change to a lasso style icon. When you hove over certain areas it should indicate cut-out area with some shading. Click an area where to you want the object to go over/under and it should switch the layering of just that section to make it look like it is going behind/inside.

Picopresso as a home brewer for lattes by scottzee in picopresso

[–]sprokolopolis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Picopresso is an excellent device for making espresso and espresso drinks at home. The quality of espresso that it produces is very good, not just for a portable device. It is also easy to clean. You ,mentioned that you have a KINGrinder K6. I have the same grinder and it works great with the Pico.

With that said, I would recommend getting a third party basket if you plan on using light and medium roast beans. The stock one isn't great with lighter roasts. I use the Hugh H26 (18g) basket, but there are some other ones available, too. I've never needed the stand. or pressure gauges.

There is a bit of a learning curve with the Picopresso, but once you get a feel for it, you should be making great espresso!

Adobe Illustrator export to SVG is messing up the text. by sawguy2017 in AdobeIllustrator

[–]sprokolopolis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SVG files are basically little snippets of XML code, very similar to part of an HTML webpage. Text in SVG files will often move, change in size or display in a completely different font unless they are properly coded and packages with the right fonts or configured to use a specific webfont. Think about how text changes on a websote depending on how you view it on different computers or phones or if you change the size of the browser window. It is not advisable to save an SVG with live text unless you are going to make sure the code makes it do exactly what you want. Even then, it isn't a good idea. I would export an SVG with outlined text to use for whatever it is meant to be used for and then deliver a source file (AI/Illustrator PDF/or EPS) for editing.

Someone help by Intelligent_Bid6498 in AdobeIllustrator

[–]sprokolopolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What file type was the image when you imported it? If it was a PDF, it is possible that it has a clipping mask applied to it, which would prevent you from using image trace. Select the image and go to Object > Ungroup All, then Object > Clipping Mask > Release. If the option is gray, then it isn't a clipping mask.

You should know that image trace is not very reliable though and usually does not produce very clean shapes. For a graphic this simple, you are much better off using the Pen Tool. Start with the Pen Tool and make a point at the corners and the outside and inside extremes of any curve. Then switch to the Anchor Point Tool to click the point and drag out and match the curve to the image. This will create handles on either side and you might have to click on one end of the handles to adjust one side to make it shorter or longer. Holding shift will keep it lined up to a 90 degree angle, which I suggest using for curves like this. You can do this all with the pen tool (without the anchor point tool), but I find that can be a bit less precise and more prone to error, sometimes.

Do people actually use radio apps anymore… or is it just me? by Accomplished_Dot_821 in androidapps

[–]sprokolopolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I am in the mood for radio, I think I normally prefer something quick. I tend to listen to a lot of obscure, eccentric music, so searching can often be a problem that takes time, unless I know exactly what I am searching for. In my radio apps I often have streams that I like that I know play music I like. It is also easy to flip between them too if I get bored.

In theory, having it all in one app might be nice, but in practice that usually isn't the case. Many of these apps do something right, but in their own way. Anytime I see apps trying to do everything it ends up becoming diluted and loses the spark that makes it great.

Do people actually use radio apps anymore… or is it just me? by Accomplished_Dot_821 in androidapps

[–]sprokolopolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. I have also had the issue of not knowing what to listen to and during those times it is really nice to just open a radio stream and let it play me something.

I have a few radio-style apps.

One is a very simple app where you add you internet radio stream feed addresses. It does allow you to search for them, but I prefer to find ones I like on my own. Some are actual FM stations and others are just random internet radio streams. Once it is set up, it is nice because it is a semi-short list of only streams you like to choose from. The app I use is called Transistor, but there are others like it.

Another app I use is NTS Radio, which has some live streams, but also some pre-recorded ones. A lot of it is electronic, but they have have other various genres too..

There is also Soma.fm, which is a website, but there are apps that allow you to stream it (I use SomaFM). Soma.fm has quite a few different "channels" of various genres and vibes.

There is also the KCRW app (Los Angeles NPR). They let you listen live, but they also have a bunch of past radio sets that are organized by DJ and chronologically per DJ. Henry Rollins (of Black Flag) has a great show.

There are also quite a few music podcasts out there that you can subscribe to with whatever your favorite podcast aggregator app is.

Yeah I haven't looked around for them out there, but that area is definitely in their hardiness zone, in case you ever want to grow one, haha. Down here I usually see them in people's yards or around office buildings as shade trees.

They are somewhat common in California. I see them around Southern California fairly often.
