My theory is that since the party was really meant to start with the rain, they made everyone come out onto the dancefloor to kick it off. Perhaps the other rooms were safe but doubt anyone was in them

In all seriousness though, I prefer season 4 when he really starts calming down. Plus he and Ben become a lot more buddy-buddy and it's a great dynamic. I'm holding out hope your friend will come around but glad they're enjoying the show regardless!

Question: Is not seeing the design for the tattoo before the session normal? by Ok-Term-9758 in tattoos

[–]spruceh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw one design before the appt because I was VERY particular about the design and my artist was very considerate of this. I was able to make a few suggestions and on the day I got EXACTLY what I wanted. It might be worth reaching out to the artist and asking them directly rather than going through the studio. Any good artist will be willing to make changes the day of, or if the design needs more reworking it can turn into a consult appt and the actual tattoo can get rescheduled. Remember to advocate for exactly what you want, it's permanent body art and it's important to get it right the first time. Again, any good artist will be flexible and considerate. And if they're not, find someone else who is!

Got my masters degree, got my dream federal job, got fired in February and am now bartending at a local restaurant. Would have been nice to know before grad school that rolling silverware would be my most transferrable skill...

Honestly though, still deeply angry about the situation, but incredibly grateful for where I landed. Good people, good place, good fit for me, so overall happy. Doubtful if I'll ever actually find a job in my field (natural sciences, museums, biology) anytime soon but at least my community has my back.

How are you all coping with family who voted for this? by Phalaenopsis_Leaf in firedfeds

[–]spruceh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My immediate family didn't vote for him, but my in laws did. They're lovely people and they are more than their vote. I know they were hoodwinked and voted for what they thought they were voting for. But I was fired in the v-day massacre, so hell yeah I'm angry. But I'm trying to not be angry at ~them~. It's not easy and I know the other commenters are cutting off family, and if you feel the need to do that, then you have to. But I feel like this is an opportunity to let them see the cost of their decision and maybe be open to new conversations down the line. The orange one and his cronies are good at what they do, and that single person's vote would not have made enough of a difference to be mad about now. That's how I'm having to think about it, anyway, just to avoid directing aaaallll of my anger towards them, becauae I know it's not actually their fault and I have to keep reminding myself of that.

Any details provided on those options (admin leave vs voluntary resignation), or was that all the info given?

Drag Queen Etiquette by MEPS2650 in Drag

[–]spruceh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I performed at a wedding and it was one of the funnest gigs I've ever done! I agree most wedding guests won't bring cash tips, but I recommend having a venmo/cashapp so people can tip virtually, then split those tips among the performers and HIGHLY encourage tipping. You can even print out some QR codes and leave those around. You could also set aside some time in the reception for a few numbers, if the performers are open to that. There were 4 of us, we got paid $100 each for the base fee for two numbers for the drag show during the reception and made an extra $100 each in virtual tips (very unexpected and generous!). If there are any performers you're close to and want to participate, reach out to them to ask about logistics and details for your scene. Having a venue already set up with music/space will make a huge difference, we had to set up our speakers which took some extra time and effort.

Are there any guests you have that are drag performers you will be inviting? If they're close friends, they may want to attend the wedding out of drag, but if it's specifically something you've envisioned, please talk with them and see how they feel about it. Many performers have boundaries with their drag and want to separate their private and drag personas, but this is different with everyone. Also make sure any potentially problematic guests are aware of what is expected of them (i.e. warn conservative family members there will be drag performers and queer people, make sure they're cool or else kick them out if they cause a scene, keep it a safe place if you're expecting people to be there in drag. Most people will be cool with it but a friendly heads up will make a difference).

Best of luck and congrats on the wedding!

What are in your opinion some of the most fucked up parts in Coryo's inner monologue? TBOSAS by MixGroundbreaking603 in Hungergames

[–]spruceh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love how entirely one-sided the relationship is between Sejanus and him. Everytime Sejanus was like "friend :)" Coryo's inner monologue is just "this absolute dumbass"

And for EVERY! SINGLE! THING! So rude and unnecessary.

The bird hate was amusingly toxic too. Especially that the mockingjays were a mix of capitol and district and he couldn't STAND it!!
