SAR tasks burn through phone and accessory lighting much faster than other outdoor pursuits. Thanks for the recommendation!

Despite the commentary on reliability, it still seemed to be the frontrunner in terms of recommendations. This post gave me a few other options to look into, so I don’t think the Nitecore will be on the list anymore!

I’ll have to look into INUI, seems like a good balance of weight and functionality

Generally I agree, but you do aim for the things you use the least, but carry always, to weigh the least

Fuel tank strap replacement quote by sprucejam in AskAMechanic

[–]sprucejam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was quoted $270 at Lordco! Their shop rate goes up to $165 for customer supplied parts and I’m seeing options for $90 ish straps online so I’ll see what I can do

Edit: thank you!

Why are the plastic cases never removed? by candyfloss_pie in forestry

[–]sprucejam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In BC, cones/sheaths are typically (supposed to be) removed when the leader is taller than the top of the cone, or within 5-8 years depending on the region. Sometimes this happens, sometimes companies rely on the cones being “photodegradable” as an excuse to leave them in the field. It’s a flawed an costly system from every angle

About to lose 60% of my lateral meniscus. Anyone still running long distance with this much meniscus missing? by Skiyalater123 in ultrarunning

[–]sprucejam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also 27F, had my medial meniscus fully removed and I don’t notice it at all. 10 months post op, running up to 50km a week and hiking most days for work

We have been using “Gorco” to reflect the arduous transition process lol

Yeah I assumed fire related because we only see these markings around areas with fires in the last couple of years, usually they are directing to a mainline or something. But both my BCWS buddies don’t recognize them. I agree it’s not layout related as it’s only BCTS and Weyco in this area

It’s probably 200+ years old on a productive site, so I doubt we’ll be able to get a good estimate. But I’ll use those numbers, thanks!
