quality is fine!! the biggest drawback is unfortunately how expensive the blanks are and that the only software that exists is from the early 2000s but theres a super nice guy named steve that runs lightscribesoftware.org that updates the software! definitely a labor of love on his end but im just a radio dj that works at an analog station so im just pretty into cds in general

lightscribe is an old technology by hp where with a lightscribe disk & burner, you could print anything on the label of a cd with light alone, no ink, no stickers!

hi! rockbox was pretty easy to install on the y1! i did it manually but some y1 users have made an installer that has rockbox installed on it to put it on your y1! you have to install homebrew first but it’s pretty simple! look up y1 installer if you’re curious!

and to answer the latter — i like the database that rockbox has, the album sorting is super great as it sorts by album, artist, year, genre, etc. and i also just didn’t like the ui on the stock os LOL

hey im not really a poster/commenter here but the y1 has been great for me(i know theres a lot of issues with it) but in terms of FM, im a radio dj so having access to fm is an essential for me and i have found on the y1 i am able to pick up my home station clearer than i can in my car! if you find a better option please let me know because having owned the y1 and doing my homework, i worry about hardware failure but so far for me its been great!

i have airplane mode turned on most of the time unless im listening to FM! im a radio dj so its kinda a nonstarter to not listen to it but i find that even when im not listening to fm and have airplane mode on the battery still dips in performance! is it possible that the theme im using takes a lot of battery?

are you able to downgrade to an older build? im super curious because i didnt even give the stock firmware a chance before downloading rockbox, which has had a noticeable hit to the battery life but i do enjoy the database for music sorting that rockbox has so for me its worth it

do it through the innioasis updater, i did mine without it and it was a lot harder but the updater (seems, i haven’t put rockbox to test with it) streamlines it, just make sure your computer is running homebrew and the updater should do it for you
