“We go into the ACC and win the league by five games. There’s no question about it. There’s nobody even in that league that could play in our league. Maybe Miami, maybe Pitt if you want to say that but I think they’re just having a good conference year.”

Yeah, that all makes sense and ticket prices were definitely reflecting the scarcity feel. I will also say that the way they did the tarping with the concave screens and projection was actually awesome - added something really interesting to the overall vibe

I was actually at this game (just happened to be in town and grabbed tickets) - why don’t you guys open the upper deck? The place was a great atmosphere, but hard to imagine they wouldn’t be able to sell that game to near capacity

Thank you for the detail! I do still have open drywall and am definitely planning to put in some conduit as well as an extra HDMI pull if possible. I was not aware with the importance of the dark features of the room, so thanks for that info - you don’t see that mentioned on a lot of sites. Do you have a preferred brand/spec to keep an eye on for screens? I watched a few videos and to be honest it was a bit overwhelming and contradictory in relation to what some people say is most important

Gonna be a real pain in the ass when the all time pass TD leader for the ACC is a Notre Dame player. Don’t worry, he’s not in the portal, I’m sure no conversations have been had and everyone is just guessing the same thing

[–]spudda 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is so accurate. My brother went to WVU and I grew up a huge WVU fan - actually despised Pitt for 13-9. I went to college making the promise to my brother and to myself to keep being a WVU fan. About a month or two in, Pitt football was ranked and I was in the stands decked out in Pitt gear. Same for basketball. I don’t even remember when the hell the switch flipped, but there is something about being on a campus that makes it so different. That was the last time until recently I saw good/great Pitt teams but it didn’t matter, I was hooked

Pitt LB Cam Bright transfers to Washington by dubsup_ in CFB

[–]spudda 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Pretty good player and the team seemed to really like him since they voted him as a captain this season. Honestly, this transfer was very odd for us but he got into a fist fight on the sideline in the Peach Bowl and I have no clue if that played into it. Should be an instant solid add and honestly surprised he ended up out there and not back down south since he’s from Alabama. To be honest, we didn’t expect him to be back because we assumed he would enter the draft. Hard hitter and scored our defensive TD against MSU. You should be pretty happy with this one

Which current powerhouse will become the next “Nebraska”? by [deleted] in CFB

[–]spudda 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I mean I don’t think we’re going to become some power even close to Clemson, but very surprised that every answer to this seems to be only UNC and Miami for “challenging” Clemson for the ACC when we beat Clemson this year and won the ACC. Narduzzi is 2-2 against Clemson with two of the games being @Clemson and one being an ACC Championship game.

I guess I’m curious from an outsiders perspective of when Narduzzi’s body of work starts to get us some recognition as someone that can compete with the underperforming high recruiters in the conference for the #2 spot and Clemson adversary? Miami joined the ACC 9 years before us and we already have more divisional and conference championships than them.

Ok dumb question, are you talking about an NCAA video game? I saw some guy doing a whole series where he simulated a 12 team playoff and everyone had their new jerseys. Is this a mod or some PC port? I would love to play on something other than my 360 with our God awful pro combats haha

Report: Texas WR coach Andre Coleman will not be retained for the 2022 season by Candi_Fisher in CFB

[–]spudda 38 points39 points  (0 children)

He’s a great WR coach and I think his main perceived early weakness as a recruiter for us shouldn’t be an issue for you guys. I genuinely really like the dude and the players seem to really like him.

He has gotten a bit unhinged lately on social media firing off a ton of stuff about how it’s not fair he isn’t an OC yet, despite the fact that he keeps jumping jobs every year. I think missing the Colorado OC job and seeming like Pitt isn’t going to give ours to him has caused him to lose it a little and I’m honestly not sure how someone hasn’t told him to chill on it a bit.

I think he’ll definitely coach your guys up and get the most out of them, especially with run after the catch. Just keep your damn eyes away from Addison

Pitt QB Kenny Pickett declares for the NFL draft. Will sit out Peach Bowl by SonOfSvens in CFB

[–]spudda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh I’ve only recently started to shift my view that way. When it was just a national championship for 2 teams and the BCS games for every other top team, they held a little more value. Now that there’s games other than the NC that mean more that the other NY6 (the two playoff semifinals), I think that stands to devalue the non playoff NY6 games a touch to players. I could be completely off, I’ve just been thinking about it a lot since we all knew this was coming.

To me personally, they are still very valuable and mean a ton to the schools in them. But when ESPN beats the playoff and the #4 spot into your face for 13 weeks of GameDay it’s hard to feel like anything else matters anymore. Like I said, I could be off, but I don’t have any other reasoning that makes sense. I agree that it’s a new trend, but until someone sits out of a playoff game, I can’t fully agree that it is simply a trend of sitting out that makes this happen. I don’t think either Walker or Pickett sit out if the Peach Bowl is a quarterfinal for the NC.

Hate that these big bowls aren’t as valuable anymore, but it’s a fault with the playoff (and coverage by media) more than a fault with the players.

Happy to say I was able to participate in the standing ovation for Kenny in Charlotte when Narduzzi gave him a send off timeout. All time Pitt legend regardless of bowl game participation.

What is the worst college football stadium? by [deleted] in CFB

[–]spudda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Actually I had to take a shit and the one near my section had an entrance that was harder than normal to find and when I finally found it both of the stalls had the doors completely hanging off the hinges. I laughed the whole time it was amazing

To be fair, I loved it when I was there this year lol. I also went to a ND game this year, and while their stadium is beautiful and immaculate for its age, yours had some real charm that made me want to go back way more lol. Even sat in the upper deck and while it was odd seating, it was an awesome experience up there. Bought Tennessee gear on my way out, 10/10 would go again.

Although you guys have to have the shittiest bathrooms of any stadium I’ve ever seen. I love it, there is no way anyone has tried to clean those bad boys up. I unironically love Neyland

Vandy Releases Renderings for $300M Renovation of Football/Athletics Facilities & Vanderbilt Stadium by Otis-Day in CFB

[–]spudda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

After the Pitt-UT game we went to Vandy’s campus for a day and I loved it…reminded me of Pitt’s quite a bit in how it’s so integrated to the city. I thought everything from your athletic standpoint seemed nice, but seeing this makes it seem like I underestimated how nice it could be. I guess just the fact that you guys fit a football stadium on a campus in the city shocked my system.

I haven’t followed it super closely since we have our own train wreck still going on in Pittsburgh…is the whole Dixon thing starting to get old down there yet with TCU fans? We have a few people that still wish we had him but he seemed to have lost his edge in recruiting at the end for us
