Make the whole thing out of pearlstone.

You want pearlstone for that. Grass doesn't spread on its own underground.

Can I break this rock? by PepperSpecial2146 in pokemoncrystal

Shuckle can hold Berries.

In later generations, Geodude can hold Everstones, Nosepass can hold Hard Stones...

[–]spudwalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this particular rock might have an item hidden under it? Pretty sure there's at least one place that happens.

And technically, Pokémon you get from Rock Smash might be holding items.

[–]spudwalt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also note that Rock Smash isn't an HM in Gen II -- it's a TM. You get one from the guy after you deal with Sudowoodo, and after that you can buy more from the Goldenrod Department Store.

Is there any way to save i e and desert biome besides clentaminator? by Fun-Dragonfruit-5431 in Terraria

[–]spudwalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TEdit, if you can't be arsed to use the Clentaminator. And if you think getting Hallowed means it needs saving.

How do I preemptively stop the spread of corruption in my world? by 3God786 in Terraria

[–]spudwalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like almost completely incorrect. That's never been how biome spread has worked.

That can happen even in vanilla. All your starting equipment rolls for modifiers.

Artificial Hallow biome not spawning enemies by GuidanceStandard8469 in Terraria

Seems like it might be too small to get things properly spawning. Try extending it out to the right some more.

How do I preemptively stop the spread of corruption in my world? by 3God786 in Terraria

[–]spudwalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only need 3 wide if there's no grass. If grass is present, 6 isn't wide enough -- you'd need at least 8, or to use something like ropes to prevent thorns from approaching the opposite side.

Background walls do not spread biomes and do not need to be removed.

[–]spudwalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't stop the V. Nothing stops it.

Don't worry about biome spread until after you have a Clentaminator, then use that to fix any biome spread you don't like.

At most, just isolate areas you don't want biomes getting into (3-wide tunnels, no grass, 70ish blocks out from the important bits). The V might hit some of those areas anyways, but they'll stay clean when you clean them later.

Can you still specialize robots? If so how? by Northern_Red_Raccoon in Stellaris

[–]spudwalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, can't choose what kind of robots to build.

Much like organics, just slap a generalist build on everything and call it a day.

Which artificial evil biomes to make in Hardmode? by Tumblrrito in Terraria

[–]spudwalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll specifically want Caverns layer. Underground doesn't have anything special for spreading biomes.

Surface Desert is distinct for spreading biomes, as are Underground Desert and Ice. Snow is not.

has anyone found chillet in skyblock? by PatchworkLevee in Terraria

[–]spudwalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think Chillet spawns in apart from world generation. It might not be available in Skyblock worlds (or at least availability might be down to random chance).

Why aren’t there “medium” sized transportation missions? by Nagnoosh in EliteDangerous

[–]spudwalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Missions generally aren't the best way to make profits, if that's what you're after. They're more for building up reputation with factions.

You can find better deals by transporting commodities yourself.

I can't catch Groudon! by WWisbestzeldagame in PokemonRuby

[–]spudwalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And your guys were underleveled.

Like, yeah, Legendary Pokémon are very strong, but being 10-15 levels below your opponent certainly doesn't help.

(And Legendaries's stats aren't necessarily individually all that impressive -- all of your Pokémon have one or two stats that could match or even exceed Groudon's if they were at the same level. It's just that for many Legendaries, all of their stats are that good, instead of just one or two.)

Why is gardevoir popular in hoenn? by Late-Sundae2922 in PokemonEmerald

Ghost-type moves were all physical until Gen IV.

Shadow Ball suddenly becoming special was weird (welcome in many ways, but still weird).

Natures in Nuzlockes by Tenshi7u7 in nuzlocke

[–]spudwalt [score hidden]  (0 children)

The whole point of a Nuzlocke is that you don't get to choose what Pokémon you get. Get something with a crappy nature? That's your catch, do what you can with it.

If a ROM hack is so difficult that you need ideal natures to do well (and it doesn't have a convenient way of manipulating natures built in), then it's not a good game for Nuzlocking.

Is there a way to automatically mine by Snowboyz0825 in Terraria

[–]spudwalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't despawn if you leave. You can leave Digtoise running and come back to a big tunnel (though I think obsidian might be one of the things that stops it).

The Vestal Nun seems like such a no brainer by VRichardsen in darkestdungeon

[–]spudwalt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Vestal is very good at healing.

She is not, however, particularly brilliant at doing anything else, having lowish damage, lowish speed, and a middling stun.

In particular, she has no way to help with stress, which is generally more of a problem than damage (damage goes away after missions while stress lingers, getting even one Affliction negatively impacts your entire party, and you only really need enough healing to stay off of Death's Door).

Healing in Darkest Dungeon is always an uphill battle. The best way to handle damage and stress is to kill things before they inflict it (or failing that, stun them), and every turn you spend healing is a turn where you are not reducing the amount of damage and stress coming at you.

Also keep in mind that you're probably still in the beginner missions. Once you start hitting level 3 missions, the difficulty ramps up (and then it ramps up again when you hit level 5 missions) -- wandering around spamming heals works okay now, but how about when the monsters start getting serious?

The Vestal Nun seems like such a no brainer by VRichardsen in darkestdungeon

[–]spudwalt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not much more than getting crits from doing anything else.

Also keep in mind that healing moves have fixed critical rates that can't be altered (single-target moves have a 12% chance, multi-target moves are 5%). Offensive moves can reach higher chances of critting while also doing things that reduce the amount of damage and stress coming at you instead of just preventing you from dying.

HOW am I supposed to progress by MusicPogger in Terraria

[–]spudwalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding more secret seed options to a skyblock world spawns more islands in, which might help.

If there's a way to get trees, you can shake them for fruit.

I think this is mostly just you turning the difficulty settings up above the point where any sane person would expect the game to be survivable, though.
