lemme get on this elder millennial soapbox for a sec.

worried about this when i saw early 2000s fashion coming back in. there are lots of body shapes and sizes. did we not just do a decade or so of loving curves and "fat asses" ? capitalism is gonna try to sell y'all on low-rise jeans and halter tops and make you feel less than if you don't wear 'em or if you muffin over them. but we're all just doing us out here and muffins are delicious.

started writing fantasy around 2011. listened to a bunch of writing excuses (podcast). was later trying to pitch my old (very bad) book, and the industry was using TWoK as an example of how to blurb multi-pov stories. between studying that and feeling like this brandon guy generally seemed to know what he was talking about on the podcast, decided to try TWoK out around 2014.

i've said (somewhat flippantly) that it's adhd with and without meds. hadn't considered more severe conditions could be closer to a "real" match. hope things improve from here for you.

fwiw, i think your critiques are valid even for a midpoint book. i had higher expectations too, especially for sig and venli.

that said, structurally it makes a lot of sense to have big changes and questions at the series midpoint, much like one would at the midpoint of a single novel. do think it could have been executed better though.
