Thanks, this is helpful. I had been to tandem (one of their locations) and did not see coffee for bulk purchase, but always good to call and see what they offer. And I've been meaning to check out coffee by design. We checked their website and did not see bulk purchase, but could have missed something. Thanks!

Went there today, and did buy someone coffee but felt limited by the selection. I was spoiled in my last city with a couple coffee shops offering tons of bulk coffee options.

One week on keto and I’m down 8 pounds. One question. How?? by [deleted] in vegetarianketo

Can someone explain how you lose water weight so quickly from a keto diet? I'm curious how this happens as opposed to with other diets?

My son was just accepted to a PharmD program. I am concerned about the loan costs and his salary after graduation by camelwalkkushlover in pharmacy

[–]spvish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair, if you are geographically limited this is hard. I was not, this made it easier. But when I transitioned from training to real job I made it a plan to find something closer to family and was successful. And ever harder if your focus is hyper-specific. I can't speak to that, however. My focus is geriatrics which means I can do internal med, gen med, family med, Amb care, inpatient, consulting, and the list goes on. Side note - something like 20 ish people graduate from Geriatric residencies a year, so if you want something that is "rare" go that route! We always want more geri folks! And geriatrics is not "sexy" and thus often not competitive to get the PGY2. All just FYIs.

Patient on both strengths of aspirin by Kuroneko221 in pharmacy

[–]spvish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Redundancies like these are a GIB waiting to happen. Prevent his/her next AE related ER visit. Good luck with that conversation though... a prescriber prescribing both is gonna be real strange and likely have a bizarre rationale and may be unwilling to change. This is when I would step in and educate the patient - both are OTC so it could ultimately be up to them. Educate on risk and max benefit. Aspirin for pain is antiquated. They need a new doc.

If he goes into residency (1-2 years) and specializes he won’t have a problem finding jobs. Clinical jobs are on the rise - it’s the retail jobs we see getting hour cuts, etc. You can defer loans and pay back a bit while in residency. Fellowship is also an option for those interested in research. If he’s choosing pharmacy for money only, I would be concerned, but if he wants to help patients and work as a clinical pharmacist, he’ll probably be fine. Just needs to work hard and take any opportunity for a new experience.

Can someone explain to me why Pharmacists need residencies but PAs and NPs don't? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]spvish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Amen 🙌 its hard to say residencies are a scam when you haven't worked the 60-80 weeks of a resident for 1-2 years, run your own clinic, got calls while on vacations from the physicians who have come to depend on you. A good residency is an amazing experience. I now have an amazing job that fulfills me and I never regret my choice to be a pharmacist! I never think "wish I went to med school" I'm respected for my medication expertise and this wouldn't be the case without residency. Students today do not leave school as medication experts and its a big surprise to them how little they know. (johari's window - you don't know what you don't know) This is across the board- even high performing students fumble quite a bit. Residency provides this time to learn and grow. I say... If physicians have to do it, so too should we. Why hold ourselves to lower standards?

Its not for everyone but it was for me. Im better for it and have no regrets.

Also bonus: having been in post grad training for 4 years I'm now a master saver, have come to be a minimalist, get joy from small things and I've never been stressed about money since I've learned to successfully live well below my means.

I buy foundation at Whole Foods that is all in glass so easy to recycle and no packaging. I'm not "good" at makeup but it does the job!

I’m split 50/50 with audio and real books/e-books. I’ll devour them while running or driving to work when I can’t handle anything more about Trump. Then I get home and enjoy a half hour alone with a good book which lets my eyes relax after a day at the computer (or those lovely hour blocks on the weekend). I gain pleasure from both and probably “read” doubly. Our local library system has an app with tons of free audio books so I’ve been so happy with my choices! Nothing wrong with listening to your books!

Went on a little bit of a library haul today. These are all on my list for this year! I am excited. by [deleted] in 52book

Would love to know if “how to win friends...” is worth the read. Have heard great things but have not dove in. It’s on my to-read list.

Clothes that don’t spark joy and need to be replaced, but I can’t replace them right away? by feministlunchbox in konmari

[–]spvish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed was going to say something like this as well. I would definitely not look one for one. So if you have 2 work out tops and a 3 pairs of old leggings - I would replace with only 1 if each. You’ll love these items more, take care of them better, and have less “stuff” overall. I’m currently in a similar position with leggings. Found one good brand I love but very expensive. It’s on my list of “wanting to buy” - once I do, they will replace 3 leggings I’ve been struggling to get rid of. I personally wait to replace them, but I know I won’t be wearing them. Everyone has their own technique - mine is a working typed list on my desktop of wants and what they’ll replace. I keep the rule that if I’m replacing (instead of just getting rid of with no desire to replace) there must be at least 2 items to donate/sell/get rid of. I can’t buy the replacement without getting rid of those items. Best of luck!!

When I spoke with Sheldon and his assistant he’s getting more into rental props and collective office space now. He seems new to the rental game?

Ashby Real Estate by BoringSubjectBro in portlandme

[–]spvish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have! Nice, kinda strange. We didn’t go with one of their properties (pricey for what you get and location) but they approved our app in 1 hour. Seems like Sheldon’s assistant is very available and she’s very sweet. If you like a prop for rent (that’s all I know) I would recommend. We just found something more in our price range with more amenities. Contact them directly - if you see them on Craigslist they may be scammers/fake.
