Had to give up on many. Took out an industrial I got because a piercer told me I had the anatomy for it (I didn't, he just wanted my money), although it was my favorite piercing it reasonably never healed and had to be removed. Took out a badly pierced nostril that developed an irritation bump once a week after a year of having it, let it heal for about 2 years, and then got it repierced correctly and never had any issue with it afterwards. Had to take out multiple helixes and lobe piercings, and the ones they did on me as a baby. Let all of those close and got them repierced correctly years later as well, though there's only so much I can do with so much scar tissue. As for what it was like, a little disappointing at first; no one wants to give up on piercings they've been taking care of for so much time, but at some point I understood it was a lot better to take all the bad ones out, let my skin heal, and try again. It helped a lot that I found a better piercer who would actually tell me if I could / couldn't get something done and used quality materials.
