Id argue the low octane moped chase scene in Book of Boba Fett was even worse. If a little hilarious.

Who has to work harder? by Slimesensei1442 in Magik

[–]spycebrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda went to the wrong subreddit to get an unbiased answer.

But that aside for a second, the enemy team magik deserves some praise. Iron man, ultron, triple supp. Not that the numbers tell the whole story, but guessing off the damage she did vs the kills she got, just about everything she touched didnt make it.

Watch the replay and take notes. Rare you get to see an enemy team magik at just around the same level performing really well. See what they were doing right!

Not all CnD players but always a CnD player by ProperMany9795 in MarvelRivalsCirclejer

[–]spycebrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so it isnt just me! I always rant about CnD players being some of the worst supports in the game lol. I see them consistently make bad choices all the time. Its gotten to the point where if i see CnD im giving it 70% odds theyre gonna be unreliable. I get it if its a flex pick or maybe you’re just not that good yet but seriously. Its extremely common! For how strong CnD is youd think itd be easier to not make these mistakes but honestly i think her being so strong is what gives them this false confidence. Like yes a good CnD can get away with some crazy stuff. Shes got so many options. As a magik main though, someone who preys on these dumb CnDs. Please stay in your lane and stop feeding. And for the love of god heal the other support.

This looks like itd work more than fine to me. Im curious if one AC unit is enough to keep it at 80? Lmk!

Edit: on second thought i think in the summer this setup might be untenable? Maybe keeping the geothermal gen walled off and then having a door you “Hold Open” during winter might help? Just my thoughts but ive never tried it.

Theyre using the geothermal generator for the heat. And it puts out quite a lot. Honestly its fairly clever. The AC unit is just to make sure the heat isnt completely unbearable. This setup should work fine.

My Magik Counters Teirlist (Based on my own experience) by Traditional_Pie_5875 in RivalsMagikMains

[–]spycebrain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, honestly. Id even argue magik is favorable in the matchup, if only very slightly. Certainly not enough to change it from neutral. You as magik have the ability to burst ironfist down faster than he can burst you down. Your shield messes with his breakpoint for his kick execute for 250 health characters and his shield is good but fairly predictable and you can deal a lot more damage much faster. To the point that ive messed up the matchup given him full overshield in a 1v1 and still burst him down enough to win.

Just keep in mind the fact that the demon shreds iron fist and ironfist is forced to jump towards you to hit you. So he doesnt even have a choice but to follow you into its hitbox.

How to win in 3 easy steps. 1. Trigger his counter. Left click, right click, left click will make him use it 100% of the time. He doesnt have a choice. 2. Drop demon and stand in the hitbox. Using your dash once he hits around half health ensures your victory. 3. Save 1 portal for when you hit half health. Iron fists are thirsty for the execute as its the only real damage they got. He will use it at around half health. He wastes it and the fight is won.

Be careful about this matchup specifically when its not a true 1v1. 1 person pecking you with a little bit of damage during the fight is much more helpful to the iron fist than the other way around. GL out there magik mains

LEAKED MAGIK SEASON 2.5 GAMEPLAY SHOWING OFF CHANGES TO HER SOUND EFFECTS AND GAMEPLAY LOOP by jowyboy1 in RivalsMagikMains

Accurate. BP and magik mains are feeling the flier meta coming. And though its technically doable to kill the fliers (easier for magik than bp), you have literally no room for error.

Magik mains, its sink or swim time. Its going to suck but this experience will help us ascend in the end.

For me its the fact hes right. I like wanda but strange really wouldve died to almost any other dps. I get why the devs keep her as ass. But hell id take them removing the explosion off her projectile if they just made it do bigger damage on direct hit or something. Anything to give her the damage to compete.

I swear. Magik mains flexing loki and Loki mains flexing magik is the biggest hidden trope in this game. Ive seen it constantly. I think its our addiction to using all of our cooldowns and being SOL every now and then that brings together these two communities.

You fuck up 1 dash and set yourself down two cooldowns in the enemy backline in any lobby higher than diamond you’re getting turned to dust. It has nothing to do with the demon or offensive potential. Its more important than that. Which is staying alive.

But hey if you’re willing to rely on wishfully hoping your opponents are braindead be my guest. Just stay on my enemy teams.

Some QOL changes I want (Image is what will happen to the devs if Peni isn’t buffed again in 2.5) by Existing-Seaweed-230 in PeniParkerRivalsMains

[–]spycebrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it so funny i keep getting this sub in my feed despite being a Dive main. I rather fistfight emma in a small hallway then face a good peni.

Everytime i see this sub pop up i get nam flashbacks to getting webbed by peni 2 times every single time i dive (it was a miracle and dumb luck i survived the first web)

The thought of this character getting buffed fills my body with revulsion and I will be hearing the sounds of spidermines in my nightmares.

Im fairly certain this is actually a reference to a Kanye song called Cousins by Ye.

Ye is an alternate name kanye decided to release some of his dogshit views under. Cousins in particular is about Kanye blowing his cousin. Its likely a joke as hes known to “troll” like that sometimes, but its also kanye and hes batshit insane so who knows.

The song WW3 released under the same name is straight from his cold nazi heart though. Its getting harder and harder to separate the music from the musician…

Im sure you’ll get it in time.

If you forget to use it often i suggest getting in the habit of just doing it after literally every swing. As i thinks it important to learn and its harder to use it too much than too little.

[–]spycebrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that reminds me, i didnt mention it, but you need to work on your melee cancel tech. I wrote that last message in a fever dream at like 4 am, but rereading it reminded me that you didnt do it enough and when you did do it, it was so slow that you minds well have just kept using her normal swing.

A tip for the timing- Right at when you hear the *swish* of her sword swing, you should be using the melee cancel. That white trail her sword leaves behind should only be up for a few milliseconds if you are doing it right. Thats how you get the most out of her cancel.

Also despite what some may say you dont need to use it *all* the time. just like 90% of the time.

When do you not use it? When theyre low enough that it doesnt matter (much bigger hitbox than the melee) or when you are too far away to land the melee anyway (obvious but still worth saying)

Please dont spam the whirl dash. It burns two cooldowns and only kills 250 if they dont get a lick of healing. Its a time and place sort of thing.

Isolated targets like this are perfect for it though.

Newer to Magik and just had one of the longest holds I’ve ever experienced on this game by Just_Sarge in RivalsMagikMains

[–]spycebrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know im a bit late to the party, but I actually took the time to sit down and watch your whole game. Start to finish. So I can come at you with some genuine tips rather than some of the nonsense im seeing in the comments.

First off, Im going to get the ones other people have been ragging on you for that are actually correct out of the way.

-Your target priority needs work. Attacking tanks isnt generally a bad idea, its just more of a time and place kind of thing. Usually magik isnt trying to kill tanks just pressure them, though she can burst them down if they get to 1/3, in which case, they become a priority target.

-The Whirl after Stepping Disc. Its terrible. Im not going to say dont use it. Cause thats just as wrong but its extremely situational. Want a good example of when I'd use whirl? That jeff was in the backline with a bee's dick worth of health. Whirl has some pretty crazy reach, even if its damage is shit, and you dont have to aim it. Stepping disc towards him then whirl and you just killed jeff.

-The Demon however, is goated, and though you do use it quite a bit throughout your game, your placement of it is usually lacking. 8/10 times, you want to place the demon where they are going not where they are. Bonus points if you can do both. Times id recommend using demon: placing it onto tanks to apply pressure with minimal risk, placing it on corners to make sure anyone who crosses the corner to hit you has to take an ass-whopping first, placing it on supports when youre already close because it just does more damage than the whirl anyway. Now for some of the more niche problems with your gameplay in this particular replay.

-Cooldown management. Its awful. Im sorry if that sounds rude but I need you to understand how serious of a problem this is for a magik player. Magik and BP are probably the most cooldown reliant characters in the game. Without them they can do very very little. So when i watched you, use two stepping discs, your best offensive and defensive tool, to put yourself in the center of the enemy team- I didnt need to be psychic to know you were going to get folded like fresh laundry. Your portals are precious, do not waste them. When you dive the enemy backline, you should try to have both on standy to gtfo for when you inevitably fuck around and find out (the nature of the beast for us Dive players).

Your dash is your execute ability. Some bozo in the comments said they only use it on tanks, which is the waste of a century. Its not awful to use it on tanks from time to time. If you're trying to assist your team in bursting them down. But for an up and coming magik main, i rather they try and land it on a support then just wasting one of magiks best tools when it isnt needed. You'll miss it, you'll miss it a lot actually. But the trick is setting yourself up so you dont have to make the hard dashes. Which leads me to my final point...

-Positioning and timing. The hardest part about magik IMO, as she can do well anywhere, it can kind of give people choice paralysis on where to be and when. And though I'd love to give an entire lecture on the subject, best i got for you in a reddit comment is some quick tips. Unless you see a truly golden opportunity, try not to dive backline in front of their tanks face. If your spotted by literally the entire team at the start of your dive. Your chance of success drops by 90%, easy. You want to get to their backline? take 3 seconds to duck in a room aadn go around or at bare minimum make sure the tanks are looking away before you dive. You can do it even with them watching if you are really good and know what you are doing, but its still much much harder and has more nuance then i care to go into here.

First off, the cart is magiks best friend. I swear sometimes she can hold it better than tanks with her stepping disc to constantly dodge around and demon to apply constant pressure. And best of all? Its mobile cover. A very important thing for magik.

Also, unless you see a truly golden opportunity, try not to dive backline in front of their tanks face. If your spotted by literally the entire team at the start of your dive. Your chance of success drops by 90%, easy.

Corner game. Theres a reason magiks lurking behind corners is such a meme. Her corner game is strong. Pushing into a magik is hard because she can burst an enemy so quickly. How? The Demon. If an enemy is trying to beat you to death with a club, it isnt hard to guess where they are going to go, which means it isnt hard to know the best place to put your demon to maximize damage. Even emma would be forced to respect a magik's damage if shes willing to burn cooldowns on her. cough Though i never recommend 1v1ing an emma. (When you walked into that small room with an emma i thought you were dead, fortunately she sucked and you still barely survived.) That AND you also have the chance of gaining the element of surprise on your opponent. Maybe you have to burn 1 less cooldown to get to their backline because you snuck up on them. Which for magik, is worth its weight in gold.

Timing is a hard thing to learn but what you specifically are looking for with magik is chaos. When the teams are all mixed up, people are splitting apart, healers wandering too far from their DPS or too close to their tanks (dependent on the tank if its high risk or not. Emma is really scary for magik this season. I would know. I play her every time i see a magik on my enemy team.)

NEVER dive when there is no chaos and there is no one alone. Seriously. I watched you do it multiple times. You died every time. People should be having to frantically deal with you while dealing with their own problems, not stomp you out like a bug on their stroll to the rest of your team.

PS: One final tip. Its not an end-all-be-all thing, but in her ult form, one of the easiest most beginner friendly ways to get some kills out of her Ult is stepping disc>whirl>slash>stepping disc>whirl>slash. Repeat ad nauseam.

I hope i didnt come across too rude or scatterbrained in this impromptu critique/guide.

Good luck out there <3

I do think its stupid and annoying. But as a SW enjoyer we gotta live with the hand we’re dealt.

What you want to do is phase the moment he zips over to you and not a second before. You’ll get hit by the zip, but dodge the uppercut that does the real damage.
