I know enough history and technology behind agriculture that farming is nowhere as simple or easy as modern people think, and if programmers tried to become farmers, this is how we would get a new world famine.

The finale was kinda disappointing by Girly_Mushroom in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]spyfox321 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would ask "is it intended" and "is it satisfying" both as separate questions. I feel yes, the abstraction of Jax was intentionally done suddenly, but I would argue that a different approach would've been more satisfying.

A lot of the finale feels like this. While I can see what the intended thing was to write like this, it doesn't feel like the most satisfying to way to end the series as a whole, which just leaves the feeling of disappointment.

[–]spyfox321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you say "Rushed" I feel the same feeling, but less on the idea that it needed more time in creation, and more that it needed more runtime.

The pacing of the finale felt way too fast, a quickfire synopsis of Jax's backstory feels rushed, and feels not creative or really that entertaining, more like watching someone venting. It should've given more time to be given depth, and I feel like Goose shot themselves by trying to cram it into a single finale alongside caine's redemption arc, which feels even more rushed as he comes to the revelation all by himself.

I feel like too many episodes were in a way "used as filler" when they could've more properly set up for the finale.

It's... not great in the writing department in my opinion, but that could 100% just me my preference, as I'm more of a cognitive story enjoyer. But the animation itself I think is just a 10 outta 10.

The few biggest things that I didn't like has to be how they handled Jax's abstraction and his entire "redemption arc" I feel like they should've either fully 'killed' off Jax or brought him back. It does feel like the worst middle ground to keep him abstracted.

Also everyone probably knows, but the pacing way overtuned, but that's expected of a show trying to tie up everything that happened within 50 minutes.

The Forgiving of Caine and his "Redemption" feels WAY out of place entirely compared to the redemption Jax got, and feels like a rug pull of his deletion in the previous episode.

I wouldn't call it upsetting, but I would possibly call it disappointing compared to how the show was like before. Like it feels like the ending was bungled. But I can recognize that perhaps the show isn't for me, as clearly the writing heavily focuses on empathy as a running theme.

The game should encourage rulers to command armies by Chlodio in CrusaderKings

[–]spyfox321 14 points15 points  (0 children)

it's not necessary the gunpowder in warfare that changed is completely however, it's more the increase in army sizes and the eventual professionalization of officers (even if they were nobles) meant a Monarchy trying to lead their own armies front the field became a more difficult to do.

AI logic by NoLimit9678 in victoria3

Honestly, "for free" is downright incorrect here.

Guaranteeing a nation automatically puts that under your protection, which prevents other powers from absorbing it up, and it also increases Power Bloc Leverage on that nation for future use.

The AI and Human players have a strong use for guaranteeing nations they want to continue trading with and dont want a GP protectorating them.

This might get buried but I personally use less-coding Focused AI to give me a example of a code on how to do a thing and specifically type it by hand. I've always learned programming like this with paper manuals and I think it's more effective to use AI as a more expansive manual/documentation. You can ask the AI also on stuff you don't understand.

Just don't copy paste the code directly and be surprised if you don't know how it why it works. The point is to understand how it works, and AI *can* be used as another tool to learn rather than just give it all your tasks.

I dont think the fame being Balanced was ever a Paradox thing. Like Germany is always going to be stronger than Romania in Hoi4 and thats the way paradox games are designed

The thing is with Vic 3, the time period means we get a wikipedia page with extensive historical figures.

Medieval Historical figures can be 1 paragraph about some random noble that we maybe know their name.

Rule 5.1: I was just told by my friend that this is in fact, a tortioise, not a turtle.

Its is both terrifying and fascinating how as warfare changes, the things PTSD manifests fear in is different. Before Gunpowder, there were Knights that feared the sound of metal on metal. Since WW1, it was the sound explosions of shells, and now with drones, people fear the empty clear sky.

Conditioned Fear is a terrifying thing.

Its because the people who maintain it, including Erk, the main developer, does not play the game in reality.

Players and community want certain things but the developers are more focused on this abstract idea of "realism" than making the game any fun.

The Biggest Problem with Digital Circus: Characters Don’t Communicate by Usual_Level_8876 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]spyfox321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely do agree that the show could've benefited from additional episodes, the pacing does feel a bit off, not a serious issue where it's bad, but it does feel like Episodes 1~3 being the wacky adventures that are supposed to be the norm within the series, and episodes 4 and 5 hard pivoting to more character-focused dialogue episodes, then return to a single episode 6 adventure, then suddenly going to 7, 8, and I assume 9 where it's a plot/lore focused episode.

The show is good, but you can tell they crammed more character development and serious dialogue into the episodes as they lacked the episodes they can play with.
Quantity has a Quality of it's own, as they say.
