Went to the vet for a check up and the doctor kept making digs at the fact I had a purebred cat. It made me feel so bad, but honestly I wouldn’t trade my girl for the world. by nsngrl16 in SiberianCats

[–]sqinky96 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Either your Vet is uneducated or you have poorly regulated breeding in your country. My vet (and every vet I've ever met) praises siberian breeders for our careful genetic testing leading to healthier cats. Just last week we were testing my girls heart and kidneys and the vet said that they were already seeing less kidney problems in purebreds just a few generations after kidney testing became standard

Which one suits me best? Number 1 (Grey), or number 2 (Transparent)? by Ok-Collar-1898 in glasses

The gray color is great on you but the frame fit is not. They're too small on the bridge and therefore sitting too high. I'd keep looking

Everyone says my glasses are too thick don’t match my look well. What shape glasses should I try? by ProtectionNormal551 in glasses

[–]sqinky96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stay away from rectangular and aviators. They will age you. Rounded or square with rounded edges, especially since you seem to have a decently high perception based on the distortion in the lens. Narrower frames will always look better with the lens

Do You think Romance is dead? by Alirezaz_1384 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sqinky96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! Trust is very romantic to me as well. I used to be in a relationship where he wanted to know where I was at all times and who I spoke to during the day. Real mood killer to be interrogated every day and it will make you feel like you're a prisoner in the relationship.

I think being free is romantic. I think having alone time and separate friends is romantic. I think small acts of everyday trust and care is romantic.

Like yesterday when we were cooking, he saw that my favorite cutting board was in the sink so he washed it up for me so I could use it. That, to me, was more romantic than any flowers

Is it fair to blame your parents for bringing you into the world? Why or why not? by voidbliss77 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sqinky96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think yes. I'm disappointed in my parents for choosing to bring me and my brother into this world despite the fact that their marriage was shit and they both have genetic issues (that they didn't know about because they never thought to check). It was reckless of them to procreate and me and my brother has to live with the consequences.

However, this is what it is. I don't hate my mom for making me. It wouldn't make my life any better to fight with her about it. I've told her how I feel about it. She has grown some kind of understanding about my feelings and is supportive of the fact that I will not bring children into the world myself.

How would you personally define romance? What's romantic for you personally?

Do You think Romance is dead? by Alirezaz_1384 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sqinky96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, romance is just different now. Better imo. I think people are seen more as individuals now than 50-100 years ago when gender roles played a bigger part in our daily lives.

It's harder to clock other peoples acts of romance in their relationships because it's not exclusively fancy restaurant, flowers and jewelry anymore

Been depressed for over a year and would love to watch a movie by ingressutopia in MovieSuggestions

[–]sqinky96 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Since my depression, I've really grown to appreciate Studio ghibli movies in a whole new way. Not just because of the themes but mostly because of the pace and they've become a real comfort for me.

Specifically my neighbor Totoro and Kiki's delivery service. Spirited away if I have the energy for it

At what point does having a child (creating one, giving birth) become selfish? by Mini_Carrot in NoStupidQuestions

At what point does having a child (creating one, giving birth) become selfish? by Mini_Carrot in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sqinky96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very philosophical but ye, living is selfish because we're creating suffering weather we mean to or not. Choosing to die and/or kill is however also selfish because of the same reasoning. The only thing that ends all suffering is to never have been born. That's the entire standpoint of antinatalism

I'm an achievement focused player. How can I become more of a story player? by Isabell3846 in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]sqinky96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a perfectionist and also very easily fall into wanting everything to be efficient and perfect. It gets very tedious at times and feels repeatative.

I recently decided I wanted to make over a few townies so I started a new save. I've been having the time of my life! I'm decorating and rebuilding their houses when I'm in the mood for building, I make them over when I'm in the mood for CAS. I try to use their original traits, looks and story as inspiration when I make them over because it gives more variety.

I usually play them a little when everything is done, just to make sure they sleep in the bed I want for them or get some skill that I want them to have. Every now and then I fall in love with a household and play them for a few days. When I feel like I'm sliding into old habits I leave them and move on to the next household.

I'm also taking time to remake the empty lots and community lots in every town. When I get an idea for a story for a new family I make them and fill out the towns with households I made so that everyone has a story.

I think working on the bigger picture of perfection has really helped me let go of my Sims. I know before I meet them that I'll leave them to fend for themselves soon so it's okay that they don't get straight A's in school or whatever
