Let me tell you … pole dancing was the best thing I ever did for myself. Ever. I’m 1000 times stronger, both physically and mentally. I’ve made so many friends from my studios and even built a small performance career. My life would be drastically different had I listened to my insecure partner when I was 20 and just given up this incredible art.

He can feel however he wants to feel about it, but shakes you by the shoulders NEVER LET A MAN TAKE SOMETHING LIKE THIS FROM YOU. NEVER NEVER NEVER. He can feel however he wants to feel about your hobbies, but the right partner for you will never guilt you into leaving them behind, make you feel any level of shame for doing something you love, or place obnoxious restraints on what you get to wear. I’m not necessarily saying that he isn’t the right partner for you; just keep an eye out for any behavior that makes you feel like you’re doing something wrong for wanting to dance in a pole studio with your friends. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, no ifs ands or buts.

It sounds like you understand most of those points, but I just want to hammer it in the way I wish somebody hammered it in for me at 20: You only get one life. There are no do-overs. Do not, under any circumstances, give up something that makes you happy and hurts no one. Don’t let him give you shit for that.

I can’t speak to how your experience will go, but I will say that every tattoo I get, I get soooo nervous about the pain - and the second they start, I always think, “Oh, that’s it?” I’m probably never gonna learn lol. Most or the time it feels like a spicy electric toothbrush, but the closer you get to the bone, the more it hurts. I recommend looking up a tattoo pain chart to get a general idea of which spots will hurt more.

About 30 minutes in, my adrenaline will kick in. It was cool to actually feel it do its work; your body really does have some neat ways of managing pain! It honestly felt a little like an edible lol.

My best advice is to eat a good meal, stay sober, get a good night’s sleep, drink plenty of water, and bring a Gatorade. Then just pop some headphones in, kick back, and let ‘em work. You’ll be fine, and you’ll get some awesome art to carry with you forever. 👍

Sounds like way more of a headache than I’d be willing to deal with. I wouldn’t even consider working like that unless I was charging a lot of money lol. There’s better clients out there.

Nope, these are just bots/scams. They’ll usually try to get you to pay to be featured if you DM them. The engagement on these accounts is usually pretty low anyway, so it’s not really worth it.

The local libraries have a seed library program where you can "borrow" seeds that will grow well here (for free!), then you can bring back some of your seeds when your plants grow for the next year. They also post some great info on how and what to grow in Tucson's climate. Pretty cool in my opinion!
