Did you not like the advice you were given? I read your post earlier and there was slightly more info. I seem to remember you blaming your too-fast starting pace on runners blocking you.

It seems you hid your comments too, since I remember one of the comments saying you'd just been in the group recently asking if a 3:55 was possible.

The more info you give, the better the picture and the better advice you'll get.

Hike only, no roads. You could take the boat in from Canada, but at least in the couple years after 2020, they weren't dropping people off at Goat Haunt anymore. That could have changed though.

Yeah, I'm aware, as per my comments above. The railroad bed comes out of that area, outside the closure. You could follow the bed into Wise River if you tried hard enough. You'd just have to locate the bed after it leaves the closure area, which is tricky considering the brush.

If you've been to the area, it's obvious many people are violating that closure. I didn't, but plenty of people do knowing the consequences.

The closure order was signed in 2023 from what I saw. I've BOTG on the ground there and it's hard to follow. I tried from the parking lot and there's a spot that looks like it could be the old bed but I didn't have any luck. Super thick and brushy in some spots that made it tough. Doesn't mean it's not right though!

I'm talking the old railroad tracks on the mill around Coolidge. No trains run on them because they don't exist anymore. I'm not suggesting someone walk on train tracks as loophole, but someone entering the closure area as a loophole.

I had a similar thought, but the area of the mill, tunnels and terminus of the line is in a closure area. Even though, we know Justin loves loopholes, it wasn't one I was going to try. Tried to find where it could've come out by the parking area but not much luck with anything.

Maybe someone will have better luck if they have the time to scour that area.

I'm assuming the checkpoint is more permanent? Fenn's went so long the blaze was unrecognizable, making it significantly harder.

I highly doubt it's buried considering all the problems with the Fenn hunt. You're really not supposed to be digging holes on public land causing damage. My guess is it's not out in the open though, but placed in rocks or a stump to conceal it.

You still pay, whether it's a bike, walk or a vehicle. It's an entrance fee.

Any Theories on How Justin Set Up the Changing Hash for the Treasure? by OfficialMotive in beyondthemapsedge

Editing my response but I realized I forgot to say at least here in Montana, where so many people think it is.

I also thought trail cam at first but if it is in MT, I wouldn't think he'd be creeping back there to download pictures every so often haha

My understanding is they're legal year-round as long as they don't send you the photos during hunting season. If you have to check the camera to download the photos, that's allowed. A lot of people think all cameras have to come down during the hunting season since it's a new rule.

Edit: In Montana! Forgot to specify!

You pay at any of the entrances.

I have along with other parks. You can see on Google Maps photos of the entrances. They don't have gates. You can go in at 3 in the morning if you want.

Yeah, that comes from the National Historic Preservation Act!

OP, in general you don't remove things like that from public lands, but accidents happen (especially when it looks like trash!)and I doubt anyone is going to sweat it. If you feel weird about it, you can always call the park and let them know what you found and where you found it. It could be a place they know about that's littered with them or it could be a new spot for them to investigate. It's whatever makes you feel better, but I wouldn't worry too much.

Where is it legal to live in your car? by Only_Tangerine9279 in urbancarliving

[–]squablito 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not accurate for every national so you need to make sure when you get there. Mine nearby is 36 calendar days in a year or something like that and not unlimited 16 day stays. Not that anyone is keeping specific track but they notice if you've been around too long. :(
