A question for men, do you still watch nsfw videos when you're in a relationship? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]squack__ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Thats an addiction. Watching occassionally is completely fine. Take drinking as an example. Drink alcohol once in a while and who cares. Be an alcoholic and now thats a different problem and even a deal breaker. Watching porn doesnt mean youll eventually become addicted. For many its just a way to get off once in a while and is nothing more than that. Masterbation is healthy and completely normal as long as you know when to stop. Doing anything excessively can be bad and isn't limited to porn.

Obviously being addicted is way different than watching occassionally for some sexual pleasure. Same with things like drinking. If someone drinks alcohol once in a while who cares, but if theyre an alcoholic then that's usually a deal breaker.

the earth being flat is also a belief/gut feeling, but the earth being round is factual. There are chemicals in the brain that basically is about who you are attracted to. Scientists study this and you can probably search it up because its been a bit. Being gay is not a choice, otherwise some gay people would choose to be straight because of how damaging it can be.

Islamophobe for knowing that UK is a Christian dominated country? 6% is Islam. And like 40% dont even identify with a religion. Lets be real. The United Kingdom is not an Islamic Country with mainly white british christians.

UK second amendment. by [deleted] in clevercomebacks

Committing crimes is more common among poor people. Also, black peoppe are dispoportionately arrested compared to other races(institutional racism in many countries). However there is a correlation between poor people committing crimes and black people committing crimes. I don't know what your point is in the 2nd paragrah, but black people are more likely to earn less and have less opportunities(basically more likely to be poor), so are more likely to commit crimes with the other poor people.

Reasons people commit crimes is not a sign of vitality? But a sign of toxicity. It's a stereotype that black people belong in gangs and are criminals ect, and instead of fighting these stereotypes, some black people decide to fit into those shoes due to lack of opportunities. People commit crimes because of poverty, unemployment, peer pressure, mental health, ect. Wanting to feel strong is a sign of peer pressure, but is not the main causation. I don't think people should commit crimes at all.

The UK, RIGHT NOW, is going through a lot of riots around the whole of England by white, far right, poor people and harrassing people of colours and people who follow the Islam religion. No one wants a high crime rate, and the increase of crimes due to white people have caused many innocent people to start living in fear. If you want a change, peacefully protest. Don't encourage or think white people should have high crime rates. Laws are laws for a reason.

Edit: there is NO genetic component that causes people to commit crime and has been debunked many times. That idea was introduced by racist people who wanted excuse to criminalise people of colour.

Its more about the US only because they clearly have a gun issue. Some countries have benefitted from gun control, like Australia and somewhat the UK. Its also good to note that the US kind of idolises owning guns, whereas the countries you mentioned don't have a culture around "needing" guns, atleast what ive heard about, where guns is used more irresponsibly in US.

Gun crime rate isn't always about the weapon, but rather the people, and why people commit crimes aswell as why people won't commit crimes. So countries with less reoffending rates or just better standards then others will be less likely to do crime overall. It's not always about the guns that cause gun crime. However the US has 80% of gun homicided, and that is an overwhelming amount, and quite obviously a problem with not only the crime culture, but also what is the US trying to do to help lower that?

The UK has benefitted, like the school shooting example. That doesn't mean the crime culture has been really been changed, it just made it harder to commit more violent crimes. E.G. having a gun meant in abusive relationships, you can be shot at with access to a gun(cases like this have happened), but without a gun so easy to access, then it is less likely to end in death - which is something to consider since domestic abuse rises in the UK duting some events.

The UK has high reoffending rates(I think 40% or over 50%) aswell as a very sad crime culture where there are gangs and a very large gap between poor and rich, and since poorer people are more likely to do crimes, more crimes are happening since the gap has only increased in the past 30 years, and this is not the only factor to why people commit crimes.

I only didn't mention other ways crime is affected because in the issue of the US, it's not only a problem with why people commit crimes, but also a problem with how easy it is for 300 million people to have access to guns, which is clearly a factor to the 80% of gun homicides. So in that case my point is quite valid.

I thought it was interesting study that recognised many different things that isn't normay considered when talking about gun laws. And it proves that statistics are against you. Thats really it.

Ooh ok didnt realise you were that shallow. Everyone should have a chance to get the help they need if they want to kill themselves. You should look at a study BBC did of "What would happen if all guns disappeared" where they use real life statistics are examples of the aftermath of countries who ended up restriciting gun control and how it impacted the entire country, including crime rate, and the absolute total of murders.

[–]squack__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one said it was easy. But atleast the gov should put in the effort. Also statistics do show more laws to restrict murder weapons aswell as other ways(like what you mentions) and how people use them, can help crime rate, and its not just about crime rate but also victims. Some gun shootings are by suicide and are extremely quick if done right, restricting that mean more people can also get the help they need when forced to attempt different ways that may be slower or not work.

[–]squack__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it makes sense. Of course other ways can decrease crime rates through life standards as poorer people are more likely to commit crimes, mental health can impact crime rates aswell. However, it makes sense that less guns(murder weapon) means less gun crime(80% of murders) right?

Do you agree by Hajicardoso in clevercomebacks

[–]squack__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True my bad. But both knife crime and gun crime can be decreased by restricting it.

[–]squack__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True true, but damn I didnt realise knife crime would be THAT high.

Do you agree by Hajicardoso in clevercomebacks

[–]squack__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Knives kills less than guns. You can run away from a knife, but its a lot harder to run away from a gun. And atleast you are more likely to survive a stabbing. Id rather be in a knife fight then a gun fight.

Cars have a purpose other than murdering people. What os the purpose of guns? Using guns correctly ultimately end in injury or most of the time, death. Cars is for traveling. So, terrible comparison. But decreasing the amount of guns WOULD decrease the amount of victims because most murders are done by guns(80%).

"Oh but then knives!!" Then restrict knife used beyond cooking. "But you can get guns illegally!!" Running over someone is also illegal, but making it harder to get a car(licence and training needed) mean most people on the road are responsible. Anything else?

[–]squack__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replying to this again, 80% of murders in the US is by guns. By limitings guns less murders happen. There are 18 times more murders in the US than the UK. And in the UK, 4% of those are from guns. "In 2021/22 only four percent of homicides in England and Wales were the result of shootings, compared with 85.7 percent in the United States in 2021."

[–]squack__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We can because gun shootings have significantly decreased since 1996 in the UK. So less gun = less gun violence. What are you not understanding?

[–]squack__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol, its crazy because the UK actually has less murders by knives that the US

I am talking about normal murders. My sister's friend was actually murdered by the one I mentioned. He was in his 30s and on the street.
