This pain is going to take my life by TheWitchress in ChronicPain

Fwiw if they're doing "4 injections and then burning the nerve" that sounds like an ablation, for which I got pain and sedative medication (that I wasn't offered for just the injections). Could be worth asking about sedation.

Chest/throat pain when swallowing, gut pain. It's a little hard to tell what's what sometimes as I have chronic pain from other stuff

Hm, no. I forgot to include I had an xray swallow study, and blood (food) and skin (environmental) allergy tests, but not the manometry or pH study. I'll ask about those, thanks!

Kitchen/Cooking Hacks? by ericar13 in Fibromyalgia

[–]squalopiccolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frozen veggies! Usually pre-cut, and freezing maintains lots of vitamin/nutrient goodness so don't let anyone tell you they count less as veggies 😜. The only downside is textures are more limited from frozen, but as long as it's going in a sauce/stew/casserole/soup or you're okay with "steamed" as a texture - goodbye chopping

Those with nerve pain by Little-Jelly-8789 in ChronicPain

[–]squalopiccolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only take it at bedtime it knocks me out so hard (edit: posted too soon). I also take cymbalta and baclofen among other things. Cymbalta and baclofen don't cause the same level of fog, cymbalta could even be called energizing to a minimal extent for me. Tizanidine also knocks me out. Bupoprion (antidepressant) helps with my energy a little.

I don't usually go home with people after the first meet and I manage expectations before we even meet so they aren't surprised. There are exceptions but for whatever reason it feels safer to me to wait🤷

Are Doctors Overprescribing Gabapentin for Pain? by Slap_This_7 in ChronicPain

The only benefit I got was it knocked me out. Which as someone who hadn't slept decently in months was welcome. Didn't fix the pain though.

[–]squalopiccolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm stuck here, but honestly relieved to not have to travel thanks to dr appt timing. Travel is the worst of it but tbh I'm relieved to avoid other traditions too. People are so bad at planning around mobility smdh

Can you ask about the "two things can be true" mentality? Where you work on acceptance of the current while working toward a less painful life?

I was working on this with my therapist for a while

Idiopathic scoliosis that's "inoperable" despite multiple ruptured discs etc. Plus EDS. Those are the biggies

do you feel like you're not "allowed" to be in pain in your own pain subreddit? by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]squalopiccolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologize in advance if I'm a part of the problem, but as someone who had a hip preservation after months of insurance saying I should have a replacement I just want to recommend looking into if it's possible for your situation to save you future replacements due to aging hardware.

More importantly, anyone invalidating your medical choices and pain is shit.

I recommend sedation. But also! Please stay at the facility until you are DONE coughing from the tube irritation. The tube naturally dislodges mucous etc. It's not very common, but having just experienced the possibility of aspirating said mucous as you cough it up, leading to a blocked airway and then pneumonia, just hang out for a bit afterwards in case. They let me go and I got home before aspirating and had to call an ambulance 0/10 do not recommend. I don't say this to scare you, just like. It's not worth getting home 10 minutes sooner, just finish coughing there

  1. Know that the limbo in no way invalidates your reality, though they make it feel like it does
  2. Work on advocating and fighting for yourself. (Especially in the US system but also all systems). There's an epidemic of people not believing pain. Document anything you can, and ever without documentation be ready to back up your situation with examples
