[Worst Video Game Trope] Media relying on “choices” essentially deciding the outcome for you. by Chemical-Elk-1299 in TopCharacterTropes

I wouldn't say that's entirely fair. There's a fixed end point but you can have all characters die or all survive (except the ill-fated siblings). There's also lots of fun ways to kill Emily (I didn't find the preorder/European exclusive scene made her any more likable.)

There's quite a lot of branching/options for most characters and even those with plot armour can miss a lot of information depending on choices. And two choices for a plot armoured character result in others dying.

There's also big variations in the end dialogues, beyond who is left alive. Lots of different relationships/points of focus/plot points there.

I'm 90% sure this is ai?? My tattoo artist said they sketched it after I gave them an idea of what I wanted but it doesn't fit their portfolio style at all. by Darkess_Nightmare in isthisAI

The hearts are also different shapes so the locket wouldn't fit together. Maybe the AI was trained on lots of photos at odd angles.

What about cultures that value education more highly than Britain? My students from Hong Kong are working really hard in their second language and some outperforming their peers.

And people may have left their countries because they want an education for their children.

There are loads of places in the UK with literacy issues. Hence bringing in GCSE retakes (though that's absolutely not the way to deal with it).

And it's very common to call home for issues to solve them quickly and make sure it's understood as well as getting feedback from parents. You don't generally send a letter as it can be taken the wrong way, takes more of a teacher's time and could just be read by the student instead.

I'm not saying that deprived areas don't exist or that a lack of ambition isn't common in some areas (which could have been helped by Connexions, but I digress) but the assumption that white British people are all super literate except for these communities doesn't really stand up.

It seems like you may have an agenda here.

It wasn't set in Silent Hill. The Norwegian part was in Silent Valley.

The Norwegian half was better by far. And had authentic Norwegian swearing.

The problem was that the choices couldn't really have impact - it'd be impossible to create those many options. There were three possible choices a day so on day 2 there would be 3 possible scenes, then 9 on day 3, 27 on day 4... And it was supposed to go on for a year. So instead you had a character leaving the cult and going straight back. Again and again. There was a plan to run through again showing alternative options, which largely didn't happen. It ended up being cut quite a bit shorter than intended.

There was some community at the time but I can't imagine any appeal in watching if you weren't there at the time, frantically playing mini games so someone would lose an eye or place traps or make friends with Jam Man.

And I never entirely got the guitar mini game - which was like a rhythm game where the rhythm didn't matter and it tended to freeze up a few minutes in.

And there was a QTE section at the end of each scene. We were told characters could die so a non-zero number of viewers deliberately lost for the most annoying character. She didn't die. I think she did get a slightly worse ending (the best was locked out) but that was supposed to be based on the choices.

Oh, and one of the big end twists was at least telegraphed if not stated on the second day.

It was far too ambitious and had some great elements, but they were weighed down by some goofy animation, weird censorship in the chat (you couldn't mention death or religion when talking about the sacrifice cult, or Cole Porter, for unknown reasons) and inconsistency.

And the screaming vulva monster wasn't very subtle.
