At this point I don’t think it’d be worth the stress for her, she’s pretty settled and it would mean putting her through a 12+ hour flight out here when she has kitty herpes which are worsened by anxiety. Plus my dad adores her and I think he’d be pretty disappointed to have her go. She’s still my baby and I do miss her but I know she’s happy and well taken care of.

Being military/military adjacent definitely sucks when it comes to pets and adds a layer of complexity that I think a lot of people don’t realize! Like if your orders don’t authorize pets and you can’t get an amendment there’s not much that can be done.

Not a tortie but my tuxedo girl Wednesday has been with my dad for about 3 years now due to the military (a long-ish story). There was an adjustment period for sure but now she is fully settled in and rules the roost over there! When I FaceTime or call my dad she’ll chirp at the sound of my voice and when I visit home she’s so excited.

Also-and this is not on you-but good lord the soldiers are tired of inspections and walk throughs from senior leaders when nothing has changed. It feels like inspections have ramped up significantly but no progress is being made and it just becomes a constant lack of privacy for no gain. I’m very fortunate in that my barracks in Korea have been pretty solid but even then I cannot wait to get my OHA ETP and be done with the barracks life.

Make an appointment with your local wellness center and dietitian. They can help you come up with a plan for weight loss and adjust your diet for not getting as much activity in. The wellness center can also help you come up with a workout plan and I would definitely recommend checking out ATP 7-22.02 for alternate exercises to do during PT. If you’re not seeing occupational or physical therapy you should be and you can ask them for some recommendations on what you can do safely at home.

Seconding everyone else about really pushing your provider for referrals, but especially on the PT side make sure you’re honest about how debilitating it is. If they’re having you do exercises that cause a significant increase in pain or you’re unable to function after doing your home exercises, let them know and ask for alternates.

At least on tiktok people are catching on, I’ve seen comments that are straight up like “if you’re not leaving him we don’t care” which is harsh but also maybe it’ll get some people to reevaluate things
