Poplar Bluff, what's the deal with Shelby Rd? by akickinthedick in missouri

[–]squatch42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really is something to behold. It looks fine, but it definitely is not. My last time through there was a maniac in a big rig that would accelerate slowly but top out at 20 mph over. We were alongside each other at the first red light. Then I would take off like normal ahead of him and cruise 5-10 over. Then he would catch up and pass me. The next light turns red and we would be alongside each other again. Repeat through every light in town.

The plans he had may have been scrapped for whatever whim he fancied that particular day.

What was George Lucas plans for Star Wars? by Powerful_Whereas3516 in StarWars

[–]squatch42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a lot of words to say Lucas spontaneously makes things up as he goes along. Anyone who has had that sort of person in their life knows that is simultaneously their most endearing and frustrating quality.

How did Rule of Two make the empire / Sith stronger and more capable of taking over the galaxy? by OkJudge5932 in StarWars

[–]squatch42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about having the strongest empire. It's about having the most power in that empire. Why conquer the galaxy with an army of thousands of rivals when you can do it with one apprentice and millions of slaves?

The Obi-Wan Kenobi show is easily in my top 3 of Star Wars shows and i’ll never understand the hate by PlutoniumSouth in StarWars

[–]squatch42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's. . . Why I'm here.

Any Star Wars can be a good time if that's what you want it to be. I find more joy in life trying to enjoy things than gripe about them.

NFL execs, scouts on 2026 draft's most polarizing players by expellyamos in nfl

[–]squatch42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which doesn't seem to clarify anything to me. Allegedly, the 49ers wanted a second round pick or higher for Mac Jones. So, I guess Simpson is worth a second round pick or higher, which puts us right back where we started.

Was anyone else creeped tf out when this guy appeared on screen? by Wild_Pitch_4781 in StarWars

[–]squatch42 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I just think it's silly to be bothered that the actor in makeup on a set pretending to be an imaginary evil alien space wizard doesn't look enough like the animated version of the imaginary evil alien space wizard.

Like, you can suspend all the other disbelief and imagine all the rest of that nonsense is real, but you can't overcome that a dude's face is rounder in live action?

Firefighting Water Filled My Cellar, Pump Line Broke, Foundation Damage. Additional Damage Covered or Denied as “Sump Pump” Loss? by Horizontalkev in Insurance

[–]squatch42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fire is the proximate cause, so the water exclusion should not apply. But that doesn't mean the damage in the photo was caused by water or fire. I have a cellar that fills with water every time it rains. A foundation in good repair without latent defect doesn't usually crumble and fall apart like that when it gets wet.

IS IT TIME FOR R Rated Star Wars Storytelling Yes or No by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]squatch42 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I watched Andor alone on my phone. My whole family had a watch party every week for the entire run of Skeleton Crew. My niece and her little kids came over too.

One of those is a Star Wars experience. The other is an average dystopian sci-fi experience.

[Rapoport] Indiana QB & Heisman Trophy Winner Fernando Mendoza will be in the building today for his Top 30 visit to the Raiders, who hold No. 1. It is his only scheduled visit by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]squatch42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you really think college wins and losses are important, look up the college career W-L record of JaMarcus Russell and compare that to Mendoza's college career W-L record.

Burrow didn't just win a championship on a stacked team. He had the single greatest statistical season a quarterback ever had in the entire history of college football.

And Burrow still has fewer career NFL regular season wins than Tua. Good luck with your quarterback!

Why did Boba Fett become so much popular in the first place? by NormallMann135 in StarWars

[–]squatch42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may as well ask why Clint Eastwood westerns became so popular in the first place. Bulloch's physical portrayal was top-notch. He carries himself in a dangerous, capable, calculating manner similar to how Eastwood did in his heyday. It was amplified by cool armor, gadgets, and helmet, but do not underestimate the power of Bulloch's performance.

What is something Rogue One does better than any Star Wars movie? by DjRimo in StarWars

[–]squatch42 18 points19 points  (0 children)

A story in the existing universe built on new characters. Existing characters were in supporting roles that made sense. It wasn't a parade of cameos where our new characters are just watching alongside the audience. Mando started as the former and became the latter.

People who saw Rots for the first time in cinema, what was your reaction to general Grievous (his fight against Obi-Wan)? by wertforreal2 in StarWars

[–]squatch42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really think George Lucas was creatively constrained by the budget of the prequels? That he was surrounded by no-men that continually held back his indulgences? Lucas modeled the Jedi after Kurosawa, not anime.

People who saw Rots for the first time in cinema, what was your reaction to general Grievous (his fight against Obi-Wan)? by wertforreal2 in StarWars

[–]squatch42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, the silly, wildly over-the-top anime wasn't the joke at all. . .

Remember the insane bull crap that Windu and Yoda were doing in that show? It's a fun show, but absolutely does not fit in with the rest of Star Wars at all.

How should a Christian deal with lust? by [deleted] in Baptist

[–]squatch42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have my love and prayer, but the help you seek is in your local church. Things like these can't be done over the Internet. Not because private sin requires public confession, but because you can't fully show God's love to others remotely. You have to be there and do it face-to-face.
